Mike Shula has already cost us one Super Bowl

If nfl folk actually thought he was worth a damn, he'd be a head coach. OC of the year twice in five years and you still don't get any interviews? That should be a huge red flag

Good coordinators =/ good head coaches. Josh McDaniels is a good example. Hugh Jackson too.

Panthers United with the troll threads rolling today. So...

So I bring you the truth. Mike Shula already has cost us a Super Bowl with his inability to adjust in 2015.

Will his incompetence cost us another in 2017?

What say you?

I say we should be working on our 2nd Lombardi.

We both know Shula had jack poo to do with that. We were the sacrifice to manning and his golden sunset.

Dave Gettleman is the reason we lost if he had brought in better  tackles than Remmers and Oher that would have been a W.

BTW, Are you folks slamming on Shula aware that he's been awarded OC of the year twice in the last 5 years? It doesn't appear NFL folks agree with your opinions.

He was "awarded" OC of the year in 2015 by Pro Football Focus, a website.  As far as I know, random website awards aren't recognized by the NFL,  nor is there any type of award ceremony to present it.  Its basically just a random website saying "we think this guy did the best job".  PFF is not "NFL folks".

And, though you say "twice", I can't find any other reference to any additional "award" he's won as an OC.  Maybe he won the Better Homes and Gardens Coordinator of the Year and I just can't find it?  Or maybe Grilling Weekly Coordinator of the Year?

Shula's ideal offense is beautiful football. You smash the fug out of the other team on the ground, that's the given. Then, you get big chunk plays in the pass game. Soon, you can at will run, or pass.

20 play drive against Chiefs that ended in two sacks last year anybody ? Or were those two sacks Shula's fault ?

Shula's offensive philosophy is perfect for the Panthers

True, but those guys got HC jobs and offers.  MCD actually got more offers after returning to OC for the Pats.

Maybe Shula got offers but isn't interested? We don't know what happens behind closed doors in the NFL. This thread is pure speculation. The Shula bashing has gotten out of control.

i think he wants to prove it will still work. fox did the same thing.

i think to a large degree, shula's failing is rivera's failing and vice versa. i don't know who it is that is making the decision to change nothing, but right now i don't get the sense that this evolution was anything more than dreams without either the true intention or ability to make it happen.

I think they are both culpable, Ron Rivera regularly mentions in his press conferences regarding the offense that "we do what we do". Ron wants a physical, ball-control offense. That's why regardless of the Bills having a stout front four, they ran the ball 28 times for 2.8 yards per carry. I don't believe the Panthers alter their game plan to attack the opposition weaknesses. That is why there are rarely any adjustments come halftime because the blame will be on player execution than actually putting the players in position to succeed.

When you leave your horrible RT on the island against one of (if not the) best pass rushers in the game for a whole 4 quarters, you've got a OC problem. When you continue to dial up long developing routes when Cam is the getting the sh*t knocked outta him because of their pass rush, you've got an OC problem. When you run 4 straight times up the middle TWICE in one playoff game (49ers game) with zero TDs to show for, you've got an OC problem. Shula is the biggest hindrance to this team, next up is Rivera. These mediocre, scared coaches are going to waste this team's potential.
