It was a common line around here for a while. I wouldn't call this a down year for NE, just not one of the years they get 14 or 16 wins and steamroll their way through the league. I would call an 8 win year a down year. I'd say it will play out to be their usual 11-12 win year.

NE could very well and probably will win a similar number of games to your estimate but they are weaker this year than they have been the past three.  I can't comment on what anyone else has been saying regularly, as I don't care.

These next couple of weeks will be a true indicator on what type of team we can become. I think we have to continue to run the ball and let that open up the passing game. Defense has to create more turnovers if they want to be elite.

I agree.  Like I said elsewhere the Lions game will show where the Panthers truly stand this year.

stop. no.

Lions defense has been rather lucky. Only decent offense they faced were the Falcons, and the Falcons predictably won even with their large sample of mistakes.

I'm not worried about that defense at all. Sure, better Dline than the Patriots, but worse than the Saints imo.

Their offense has also been lucky in terms of Stafford getting breaks. Vikings started cracking open Stafford this weekend, we'll likely see more of that from the Panthers defense.

Oh, and Julius Peppers getting 3+ sacks on OT Greg Williams lol. Our defense is going to murder him.

Man, this week is going to suck. It is the first time we have played the Lions, where both teams are having a good year. I am going to hate rooting against them. And on top of that, I'm am going to have to hear every goofy azz comment form ill informed posters, telling me how bad the Lions truly are.

If we play like we did today, we can win this. But we had better have our big boy pants on if we want to win.

I suspect we will have to play even better than today to win against them.  Fortunately we have the capability for it.

For the last few years, the Lions at home are becoming formidable. I hate that we have to give them a loss.

Congrats on your childhood team coming of age. No man alive can hate the Lions. Stafford scares the hell out of me, just praying for an off week.

I don't quite understand your first sentence.  I didn't like football until I watched the 2007 Giants vs Patriots Superbowl.

It's tough to hate the Lions though I agree.  They and the Browns have had as rough a time as it could be in the NFL.  Stafford is a very good quarterback but has his flaws.  They've become fewer as he's gotten better but let's hope our coaches and players can capitalize on them.

My bad, some poor bastard said he grew up a Lions fan since the 60's. Mistakenly thought it was you. Lol.
