Game etiquette

I agree when it comes to simply sitting or standing, but in your opinion, does this apply towards cheering as well? Noise has an actual undeniable impact on the game for your team and I think if you’re buying a ticket to a football game, you have to accept that it’s going to be a noisy environment. So are you being an a-hole if you cheer loudly/bang your seat, etc. around young children, elderly, or anyone else for that matter who ask you to be quiet? Is it still disrespectful in that case? Where do you draw the line?

Can't tell if you're being serious or not. Sure hope not.

I always have fans behind me get pissed at me because I stand the whole time, I've had security called on me, people leave the game, etc.. At the end of the day, they didn't buy my ticket, I don't go to the game to sit down. Once again, wine and cheese crowd unfortunately.

Hey guys its Kyle Adam Maraghy

Sit ur damn ass down. Stand up and cheer when its a big play or TD. But other than that sit the hell down. I was at the game Thursday. I was in the 500 level row 2. The guys in the very first row. The FRONT ROW, decided they wanted to stand. Like wtf? Why are yall standing up when nothing is obstructing your damn views.

That older man did not deserve to get punched in the face. But if a person wants to stand the entire game that's their right. If the person behind them can't see maybe they should go watch the game at home in the bed. It's a f u c k ing football game.

Maybe the person standing should stay home. No one cares there...

I was being serious yes, but I'm not sure what you took away from my post that was offensive. I am not a very loud person by nature so I don't run into that dilemma personally, but I have taken my uncle to games who is extremely passionate and cheers at the top of his lungs which I think is admirable. Too many times has he gotten shushed in a not-so-polite manner (people will put their finger to their mouth and literally "shush" him)...mostly in the club level. It usually starts with people turning around and looking at him in a disgusted sort of way until they actually verbally tell him to stop...after which he always complies.  These are generally middle-aged adults; no young children or elderly around at the time. Then he will spend the rest of the game muffled in fear of offending anyone else. I don't like that he is being made out to be a bad guy for cheering loudly, but if that is generally considered as inconsiderate then I do want to know so I can at least talk to him myself before games.

What is the proper etiquette in this case? Is there such a thing as "too loud" at games? Is my uncle indeed in the wrong? I get the impression that you feel like I was asking rhetorical questions in my last post, but I'm not. I'm genuinely curious where the line is because I acknowledge that perhaps I'm ignorant of these sort of unspoken rules at football games. Especially getting your take on this, as I imagine you have your own group of people who cheer loudly at games and so you may run into this yourself from time to time.

That could have easily been me.  I am in the Front Row, 500 level.   Why do I stand... cause I don't feel like sitting down the entire time.... front row or not.  I will tell you my son and I do sit a lot more than standing than we'd like because we are and do try to be more aware of the ppl behind us; but overall there is to much sitting around.  Plus if sitting the entire time is no different, then why do players get on the big screen telling us to STAND UP !   They should be putting that on the big screen more ,,,, makes me feel like I have permission :shades:

You buy the ticket so no one really has the right to say anything. If the Panthers want you to sit thats a different thing but someone getting pissed because they can't have it there way should just watch it at home. Obviously the old guy was being a jerk and got punched for it. Does that make it right no but it does teach you get way more out of being nice than a A hole.

FWIW I've seen people brawl before at the game and it's just going to happen when people are in confined spaces.

Yes, EVERYBODY paid good money for their SEATS!!!!

Well, use your seat!  I understand standing for your defense on a 3rd down play,  standing for your offense on a 3rd down play, goal line stands, but standing the dang game??

If you want to stand for the whole game save your money, stay home and stand in front of your tv!!!

Just my two cents worth!!!

I've yet to see anyone take the other side of the argument. It's an old Philly fan, how nice do you think he was? I wish I was on a jury in the fuged up judicial system of NC. Not guilty all day.

I'm not saying getting punched is right. They should have ignored him but looking at that short video he was being a dick and called the kid a ***** or something. Violence begets violence.

    • All signs point to legit. We’ve been way better than our record the last few years it’s just we’ve had brutal injury luck. Also I’ve watched nearly every game this year and 3 things have stood out to me even when healthy from early in the year to now: 1. Early on Lee had some brutal rotations and situational coaching but he’s improved a ton there. We lost some close ones early we should’ve won. Sure most our recent games have been blowouts but in close games we’ve improved a ton there. 2. Defense. Overall team defense has improved so much, it’s not just hot shooting winning games. This D is absolutely a real trend and sustainable. LaMelo in particular has gone from flat out bad defensively to above average. We have so much length we always should’ve been good defensively but it took time for guys to buy in and really hone in on it which they have.   3. Pretty much all our young guys have taken strides forward. Moose’s development as a passer has been insane, Miller is putting it all together to be an elite 3 tier scorer able to hit 3s, mid range and finish at the rim. LaMelo still some poor shot selection but has cut the turnovers considerably. Kon has been a great shooter all year but has steadily improved in other aspects of the game too.      It has definitely been surprising how quickly it all came together out of nowhere but really none of it surprises me. We’ve been building towards this for years now.
