I Have No More Excuses for Christian McCaffrey

Hoenheim

Recommended Posts

His stats through 7 games :

Rushing :

- 45 Attempts, 114 yards , 2.5 YPC

Receiving :

- 44  Receptions, 329 yards, 7.5 AVG

I'm not throwing him under the bus giving the circumstances of the team, but can anyone deny he's been a massive disappointment as a NFL running back. There were a lot of people whispering he wasn't big enough or strong enough to be a good NFL runner and so far is absolutely true. I've seen way too many times he's going down on first contact, getting dragged down by arm tackles, and getting rag-dolled by almost any NFL defender . Sure Shula isn't helping him and the oline has been ass at run blocking, but notice how Stewart managed to pop off a few good runs last game? McCaffrey, is stll getting stoned by the nearest defender. And as much as people keep saying shut up about Fournette and that he wouldn't fit our scheme, would he or Cook have been doing just as badly as McCaffrey is right now?

Perhaps his somewhat saving grace is that he's been excellent catching the football . But how is drafting a decent slot WR worth it at the #8 spot in the draft?

As of right now, it looks like we still don't have a good RB for the future. I don't think our oline is ever going to be good enough for tiny dude like McCaffrey to have much success running behind.

I think its too much to ask for , for him to drastically change his weight and playing style to be a much better more well rounded running back that can bounce off some tackles and not get pushed around so much at the LOS. I'm by no means a troll, and long time Panther fan, but I'm just frustrated that the highest draft pick we've had since Luke and Cam has been a horrible dissapointment this far. I want him to improve, and I want the team to give him better circumstances to operate in. But you all know Shula/Rivera not going anywhere during the season, and the oline's not going to improve much with the Kalil brothers constantly getting injured and Turner going down, McCaffreys blocking is going to get worse .

When his blood vessel almost burst getting 10 reps on the bench at the combine I didn’t think there was any way he’d be a top 20 much less top 10 pick.  To my horror he was our pick but I came around with the preseason hype.

I hope like hell we’re both wrong for many reasons.  Whiffing on a top 10 pick at this point would simply be catastrophic.

He was good pick when Olsen returns his production will be 3x better.

We need a dual threat TE that can block and pull LBs /Safetys away from line of scrimmage. This will opens up the running lanes and underneath stuff for CMC.

Can you please not use font size 18. Thanks.

I didn't want us to draft CMC, but the Panthers coaches had a plan. They believed that our o-line would open rushing lanes and that CMC would squirt though and make plays. One problem. Our o-line can't open rushing lanes against teams with good/great d-lines. So CMC is worse than useless on this team as far as rushing between the tackles is concerned. He might as well weigh 95 pounds because he can't push a muddled mess, and he's terrible after contact in a pile of humanity.

There is a solution. Draft road grating offensive linemen who can open rushing lanes in the next draft. If there are not enough in the draft, then buy them in FA.

329 yards. I mean he'd be our 4th most productive receiver last season if the season ended now.

Get the run blocking fixed up and maybe Jonathan Stewart and Christian McCaffrey will finally start producing as runners. Runningbacks can't block for themselves, and our run blocking has been very bad.

Yes but the explosive plays are lacking since there is no other real threat on field that demands respect all the damn time to draw defenders , Olsen is sorely missed!

While I agree Olsen is missed you might be the dumbest guy on the internet, either you legitimately know little about football or are an alt troll

Y'all realize this offense would literally die and flop winless if we didn't have mccaffrey and what he does to defenses.

That’s a very narrow minded and/or homeristic take-given positional value and the ability to pick up other options elsewhere.

    • As far as elite/elevate talent QB’s It’s Allen Mahomes Jackson and Burrow that’s it.  Then we have tiers and those can be debated all day Dak is a good QB but I know this board would want him out of Charlotte if he was the QB here. 2 playoff wins in 10 years. Justin Herbert no playoff wins. Threw 4 interceptions in last years playoff game. 23 TD passes last year. 20 the year below and 25 the year before that. This board loves stats without context and these stats aren’t saying they’re much above complimentary  Kyler Murray isn’t good. I’m not sure how he made this list.  Caleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence both benefiting from some real good offensive coaches right now. They’re both complimentary pieces until proven otherwise  I like Jordan Love. Always have. I wanted to draft him but he isn’t a superstar.  CJ Stroud hasn’t been much better than Bryce after his rookie season. After that Bears game year 2 his numbers very similar to Bryce I will say I think Drake Maye is well on his way to becoming the next top tier QB if I had to pick one from this entire list. I’d also say Baker Mayfield is a damn good QB and I’d take him over most of those guys not in the elite category  Now if you want to debate tools and which QB’s possess tools to put them in higher tiers that’s a completely different discussion. Most QB’s on your main list all have those physical tools that will keep you thinking he’ll become the next top tier QB. They’ll sprinkle in a “wow” play or two a game. Bryce will never look that way. Young’s game at its peak will physically always look different and I think that’s where most people struggle when it comes to seeing how Young’s can be successful in the league  All QB’s need a team around them. I think the Bills are failing Josh Allen much like the Panthers did Cam. Beane and McDermott using same blueprint with Bills team. Josh Allen hasn’t had much in terms of WR’s and it’s ultimately costing them when it matters the most
