Interesting stat about our pass defense

Things to factor in as well:

-We are also allowing short fields due to the offense and ST

-Our offensive style is a clock killer and both teams average fewer overall drives per game, limiting yard potential

-We have an aggressive style with a secondary that starts Jairus Byrd, Colin Jones, and Daryl Worley (Now Seymour)...they will get burnt when we blitz Munnerlyn, Thompson, TD, etc.

-The DBs still play the softest zone in the league with an aggressive front 7.  It should offset but has it's downfalls.

Overall, the DL is killing it, but the LBs are actually underperforming in Wilks D, and the secondary are just tacklers or guys who can run a receiver out of bounds.

Yea lb are not showing up like usual which is hurting as well. This team will lose to good teams on defense. Example philadephia and new england almost came back. I believe it is the soft zone thats killing us. If bradberry is as good as they say let him be on an island shift help toward worley...maybe too soon for him though doesn't have any picks.

An 11-4 td to int ratio, completing nearly 70% of his passes, and a rating of 100 is struggling?  They run a little more, that is about the only difference offensively.

This is why you don’t look at the stats sheet

Against the vikings and pats they got blown out but Brees was able to compile garbage time numbers.

He had his best game against our sorry secondary, followed by Miami.

His last two games his defense and running game have been the main cogs, since he’s thrown multiple picks in each

That is why you do look at the stat sheet, because anything else is just an opinion.

Against Detroit, he struggled somewhat.  Against Green Bay, he threw a couple of interceptions early, but then spent the second half slowly and methodically dissecting the Green Bay defense, scoring 19 points, passing for 330 total yards, throwing for 1 td and running for another, and completing approximately 13 of 18 passes in that second half.  That isn't struggling, that is being sharp in crunch time (when it matters most).  The only difference in this year and years past is that their defense is better and they are running the ball more.

We are 4th in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game at 181 YPG. Makes our pass defense sound pretty decent, right?

However, we are 27th in the NFL in passer rating allowed at 100.4 and 28th in completion percentage allowed at 67%

Sums up the gripes we all have in relation to our defensive play calling. Simply prevent the big play and play unassertively. I miss the aggressiveness Josh Norman brought to this secondary. Dare I say I even sorta miss Tre Boston and his ability to make a big, game changing play or hit, even if it meant whiffing on one or two in the process.

Boston...whiff...many time...so many times, he makes guys who whiff once, look like they don't whiff at all.

I miss Norman too but fat Dave was an idiot , I'm not worried about that stat that's because we give up the underneath throws we are a bend / not break defense and it works . Also most of those passed most likely come from worleys side . We need a CB 2 pretty bad but not as urgent as we need offense we can survive with our current defense .

I suppose you enjoy Star being on the team as well?

Against the Packers the saints were on the field almost the whole game since Hundley can barely move the ball.

And you just proved my point, Brees hasn’t been as good as his numbers indicate except against our secondary.
