Just A Reminder About How Much Of An Insane Athlete Jonathan Stewart Is

Well, just wanted to go take a trip back to when we drafted Jonathan Stewart and remind everyone just how crazy of a prospect he was.

If he were to go to the draft from last year, he'd make Fournette look like Trent Richardson in comparison. His measurables were downright non-human, and his college tape crazy. Likely could be considered a first ballot HoF back had he not split carries and not been injured so much during the duration of his career.

To add on, he had incredible tape with his time on Oregon. Just a crazy good runningback.

While Stewart has been largely up and down this season for a variety of reasons, it's still good to have a bit of an appreciation reminder for what J-Stew's done for us. Has been a large part of our rushing success during his time with us thus far.

Anyone have that gif of that 60 yard touchdown?

didnt look like he lost much of that speed

that was 1 play where theres no one in front of him after he breaks the LoS. Anyone can pick up alot of speed if that have that much of a head start and they have 10-15 yards to get in stride and turn on the jets.

I'm talking about speed within 10 yards of the LoS and near the beginning of plays, like right after he gets the ball. Initial explosiveness.

He is the single most under appreciated RB  (by fans) in franchise history, and those same fans think he's done - stick a fork in him.

Not smart.

Not sure how he's underappreciated. In terms of Panthers' RBs, there's basically DeAngelo, Stew, and Stephen Davis.

Jonathan Stewart in his prime = Second best, and second most freakish running back of the past decade or more other than Adrian Peterson.

I'm positive if you put him in place of Ezekiel Elliot he does better than Elliot does on the Cowboys.

He definitely is one of the most underrated players, even from his own fanbase.

    • Brother I hate to tell you but that's a terrible draft. You hit at 51 but the rest is...not good.
    • If you check next year there's 50 mill in cap space, * without this years draft class or next. 5+ should allow this year given its top 51. Next it jumps and you need another 5-10 mill for 27 draft class. Most team like to carry 10 into each season for injuries. It goes fast....... I feel it pains as a "hater" *but* if my fav Panthers team decides BY is thee guy......(just how...)... I feel they should offer that malik Willis contract as the goal and base for a contract.  I believe they feel strong enough to sign these top FA, they are going for it right now........ So that hurts my idea of drafting a starting QB in 27 or even 26....Its hard to reset "going all-in" with a rookie QB learning the NFL game. Hell who knows what QB will be cut after this year too, no one thought Tua or Murray was getting cut before this past season, NO ONE. Watson could be a FA at any point this or next.  Honestly wildcard in this mofo is using the 19th on TY simp, let him learn at his own pace and flip BY for a mid pick or just ride him for the whole 5th year. Now you have a low cap hit young QB that's been learning for 2 years and you got him for the next 3 if he's the guy.....why not!?!?!!?
    • Mike Kaye replying to above post: ”If he plays well next year, they will almost certainly restructure to open up cap and push down the cap number. His contract becomes guaranteed for Year 3 early in Year 2 unless he essentially bombs. I think 3 years, $90 million is the deal, which will almost certainly be reworked if successful. If it doesn’t, pretty notable gamble (let’s not kid glove this).  As with any deal there is nuance.” https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/2033246139026174146?s=46
