Carolina Panthers is over 0.500 overall with win over GB

The victory over GB, brought the Carolina Panthers over 0.500 winning record (including playoffs), for the first time since 1998. (after the first 3 seasons we were 26 - 22, and then downhill from there) 

182-183-1 (Regular Season record so far) and 9-7 (Playoffs) = 191 - 190 - 1  which is 191.5 wins / 382 games = 0.501 overall [source]

I wonder how does that compare to other "top-tier" teams. Took us 23 seasons. 

Milestone?

Nope. That translates into us winning 191 of 382 games played, which is exactly half. A loss to that CIN game would have us at 0.500 as well. A win in that game would have put us 2 games over 500, instead we decided to tie it.

Correct.  Additionally, it is not the first time in franchise history the team has been over .500 as we began our existence at 7-9, 12-4, 7-9 before falling to 4-12.  So we were above .500 from some point in '96 until some point in '98.

Also, I believe that in regard to winning % a tie is considered 0.5 wins and 0.5 losses.

I don’t create many threads but I created one comparing the Panthers W/L record with the rest of the NFL since the Panther inception a couple years ago. It wasn’t pretty.

The Panthers ranked at the top of the bottom 1/3 of the entire NFL, I do believe this may have taken us out of that and now we are in the middle 2/3. Personally, I’m pretty excited we have graduated to average.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFL_win–loss_records Regular season we are #20 all time, and post season we are actually #7 all time. Cowboys at the top , Buccaneers at the bottom for regular season, then Patriots at the top, Bengals at the bottom for post season.

Alot of teams are much older than we are tho. I wish there was a way to compare all the teams at around their 22nd year of existence.

Man you would automatically think New England was higher because of the last 16 years. They must have stunk it up in the past, it would be interesting to figure out their record before 2001.

a tie is considered a half win and half a loss. So 191-190-1 =/= 191.5-190.5, which is over .500

• Broncos : .427
• Saints : .362
• Jaguars (23 years) : .451
• Texans (16 years) : .433

As a general trend, there's quite a few teams whose first couple of decades were alot worse than ours  (Ex. Falcons, Saints, Bucs, Broncos, Steelers, )
