Sounds like Charles Johnson will be the corresponding move. Coming off suspension.

Trai Turner is moving through the concussion protocol and Rivera expects him to practice tomorrow.

RR: Trai Turner is “moving along” in the protocol. Could see him practicing tomorrow.

Rivera says Shepard will be back this week.

RR says Panthers won’t sign a FA WR to replace Byrd. Christian McCaffrey will take a more prominent role in return game.

Trai Turner is progressing in the protocol and will be practicing this week (which is a step in the protocol)

RR: Panthers planning to play starters entire game on Sunday.

How did Byrd stay buried on our roster this long anyway?

I thought Gettleman and Rivera were executive and coach of the year?

They let Ginn walk out the door and kept Byrd buried behind a bum we signed off the bottom of the Buccaneers roster. Just unforgivable.

Devin Funchess

Brenton Bersin

Kaelin Clay

Russell Shepard

Woof. Injuries and trades certainly played a part in this unit but that right there is why every playoff game will be an uphill battle. Teams will sell-out to stop the run, put their best corner on Funchess, and one of three WR’s who wouldn’t be on many other rosters in the NFL are going to have to play out their minds and step up. Need to address this position in free agency in a big way this off-season. That is ugly.

RR on ATL game: “We’re playing this game to win.”

Rivera says that they plan to play starters the entire game on Sunday in Atlanta, no matter what happens in New Orleans/Tampa Bay game.

Rivera says he won't pay attention to Saints' score in Week 17. "I want to win the football game (against Atlanta) and keep as much momentum going into the playoffs."

    • No doubt.  I was at the game watching it and it looked like a fly ball to the infield.  It got in the air and just hung up.  XL tracked it like a shortstop.
    • You need to go outside and get some fresh air.
    • Sorry, I don't get the "mental" thing at all. If his football IQ was as low as you say it is, then he wouldn't be out there blocking as well as he is.  It is quite possible that he's been pressing due to not really being in the flow of the game because Bryce doesn't look for him on the regular. His strength, at the moment, seems to be as a mismatch in the slot on crossers and slants in my opinion, and for whatever reason (maybe height) Bryce is more likely going to chuck it to the sidelines. So, in a sense, maybe Legette and Bryce aren't a good pairing, and that gives the appearance that Legette is not all there. Lord knows that Bryce doesn't seem to be able to hit receivers in stride so they can maximize YAC. But anyway...all that being said, I thought that X would be more than just a possession type of guy. So we'll see where it goes from here. I'm not like some, who appear not to see the value in a guy who can kill you like that, and kill you just as well as guys that do their best work on the outside, but, X is going to have to be able to consistently hands-catch on the run and separate better at the top of the route if he really wants to unlock his potential as an all-around receiver. If Bryce could consistently and accurately hit receivers, especially in seams on the slants and crossers, it would open up Legette and the offense. Just my opinion, but I think he causes all the receivers to press to varying degrees, and causes the coaches to call plays that have built-in limitations, but I could be wrong about that.
