Also, anecdotal but over the past 3-4 years,  none of my friends who are mostly in the 30s, 40s, and 50s age range don't use traditional cable or satellite.  It's all bootleg, but my wife is a "goodie two-shoes" and she refuses to go that route which we did for a while.

The product is over saturated in my opinion.  Monday night, Thursday night, Saturday night games etc. Then you have a thousand Network shows talking about the games. Idiots like Cowherd stirring poo up. Every bar you go to has ESPN on. Then you add the fact that the officiating is garbage and that they constantly take teams out of the game. It gets to be too much.

We as fans shouldn’t have to feel that the refs will legitimately fug up the outcome of our games every week. But we do and for good reason.

But...I drive a cab and 90% of my riders are black. so I hear a lot of sh!t, and one thing is, I think white America would be surprised how many black people like Trump and stopped watching the NFL because of the kneeling. small sample yes, but it is surprising.....at least according to the media and the tinderbox.

Viewership is down because cable is expensive so people are saying fug that and jailbreaking fireboxes or using Rokus.  Also I'm not sure if you record a game and watch it later if that counts in the ratings....A LOT of people do that.

There are a redneck few that boycotted the NFL....but they were never serious fans anyway.

The flag worshippers are obnoxious to me and I'm a Vet.  The product has gone down hill for a variety of reason (targeting rules, concussions, instant replay, college football style, etc) and accessible other media platforms. It has been trending in this direction for a while and kneeling is a cop out instead of dealing with the real issues. It's a dangerous sport, refs make errors and college football is eroding the product quality.

You do realize that most Black people who refuse to watch because of "kneeling" is due to the way Kap is being treated.  Most Black people hate Trump....ask me how I know.

That really has nothing to do with it.  It's not a declining product.  Any team on the field today would probably dust the 85 Bears honestly.  It's a bigger stronger breed of athlete.

Really it's all just technology...aside from Thursday night football and early games in London.  Those are the two culprits in my opinion.  No one is gonna watch a crappy late season match up between the Broncos and Colts when they both suck on Thursday.  Also no one is going to wake up super early...especially on the west coast to watch a Texans vs Jets matchup in London.  Those two things alone bring the averages of the whole thing down.
