Not just no, but hell no to Crowell. He is a major problem off the field. He was the guy who posted an image of a cop getting his throat cut. Has been a problem since college. People forgot about him. Crowell was one hell of a RB at Georgia. Was dismissed bc of possession of weapon on school ground and failed multiple drug tests.

of course.... man Im glad this is the last Free agency with JR.

Fair enough.  Apologies.  Surprised no one else mentioned it.

Oh, I was talking about why would people post the stuff he did online and making fun of myself for missing another issue off the field about a player. that's 2 for 2 for me today. Wasn't talked crooked to you.

I tend to focus on the football not peoples reality TV shows or lives or social media w/e.

I think it would depend what Crowell would want. There are some good backs that will be available in this draft (Chubb, Michele, Love, Guice, Kerryon Johnson). I'd love Michele, Love, or Guice to build around, but I think you'd have to use a higher draft pick. If a back like Crowell, DeMarco Murray, or even Carlos Hyde (again, depends on money), I'd rather have one of those. But, who knows where we're headed. I don't think we can rely on CMC being a 3 down back, even in a Norv Turner system.

I keep seeing this statement being made by posters on here.  What makes you guys so certain of this?  I certainly can't agree with it based on his use so far.  It's certainly not based on ability so what am I missing?

I just can't see it due to his explosiveness through the gaps. Plus, he's 205 lbs -- not exactly a good ground-n-pound guy, especially in our power run system. They need to focus on getting McCaffrey mismatches on LB's and focus him on screens to where he can use his agility. I see him as every down player, but not running back. I think Norv is going to use him and Samuel in the slot quite a bite this season like he used to do with Darren Sproles.

I think the term you are looking for is bruiser.  No he's not that type of back.  He better suited for the I formation with a lead blocker.  But that doesn't mean he's not an every down back. A power run game is not strictly predicated on a bruising rb.  That's just icing on the cake.

Ground-n-pound is essentially having a bruiser, but in the case of this argument -- I wouldn't want to see CMC have to do that for sake of injury. We don't need him being that guy that starts getting injured and having to result into going with a backup RB, then not having that gadget player we have with him (especially if used like Sproles). I would rather have someone like Guice or Michele in the 2nd round to do that while giving CMC a few carries, but heavily putting him on the field in 2 back situations or at slot WR, lined up with a LB for an easy mismatch. Not sure how Shula couldn't do this, but it's obviously not hard.

Injuries happen.  The kid has done it all as a rb so saying he can't at this level is presumptuous.  From what little we've seen so far I have no reason to believe he can't run in any type of system you put him in.  The O-Line has more of an effort on a rb than scheme for the most part.

From watching this year, and knowing who our interior lineman are (Norwell, Kalil, Turner [all top 10 at their position, if healthy]) they aren't the issue. When watching McCaffrey, he struggled when running the ball because he couldn't get through the hole fast enough like he could in a weak Pac-12 conference in college. The screen vs the Saints says it all about McCaffrey -- if he has open space, he can make stuff happen. But, going through the gaps where he's going in a straight line, he's not going to be as effective. I'd rather see him at the slot and being a WR out of the backfield and us having that guy that strictly carries the rock instead of letting McCaffrey handle all the touches, potentially hurting us later with his long-term health.

You and I were watching 2 completely different players then.

Which is all the more reason to snatch up the better players at other positions rather than a position where we are pretty strong anyway. People will be getting RBs while we can focus our attention at our other holes while also addressing WR/RB in FA.

Gettlemans use FA to set up the draft idea couldn't work better than this year. We need WRs there are plenty. Could use a younger power back...yup FA has some....TE as well....

We are strong at RB? Lol

Its a deep RB class so let’s avoid it and draft other positions, that sounds logical

Theirs a reason free agent RB get little traction
