It's kinda interesting that they have us selecting Miller over Kirk and only 3 WR taken in round 1.  They're pretty similar players with good college WR production , Kirk seems to be faster but Miller possibly stronger or better at contested catches . I'd be happy with either of them honestly

Would not be surprised if we got a WR in r1 and went defense the rest of the way . Maybe Olsens injury will scare them enough to get a TE or if they are stew we could get a RB too .

This

Miller is a 2nd round guy.

He isnt big at 5'11 190

He isnt fast (he's a 4.5 guy)

But he is Quick, Runs good routes, and has good hands

My comparison for him is Jarvis Landry

Kirk to me is a bulkier version of young Desean Jackson with better hands

This off season should be super interesting with all the moving pieces going around and so many QBs coming out in the draft and the...

:omg:

A whole offseason of 2 TE sets from Sanjay.

LOL, we need to get Sanjay a TE so bad.  :)

Troy Is a really good TE but I really like Dallas Goedert. He really looks like a beast and can seperate well.

I've came away Very unimpressed with Fum this year after being high on him coming in.  Went to the Orange bowl and really watched him and he Really struggled to create seperation looking like Olsen his first few games back.

Goedert im a little skeptic especially coming from a small school.  There are plenty of those small school guys who put up great stats vs weak competition every year but cant block.

My guy, who you wont hear much until the prodays and combine

Dalton Shultz

I was Really high on George Kittle last year but he was a Nasty blocker and athletic where he had tons of potential as a pass catcher (had just as good a season receiving as OJ Howard this year)

Shultz is known for his blocking (barely over 200 yards receiving a year)  he was Big as a blocker for CMC and Love.  He's a solid athlete, Stanford staff raves about his route running ability and hands (despite not being used as a pass catcher due to system)

Last week they had Ridley falling to us.  This week we take a SS type of player.  Thoughts

Players I found of interest taken after us.

Mark Anderson TE Oklahoma (slotted for Jacksonville)

Denzel Ward CB Ohio State (Slotted for Philly)

Chukwama Okorafor OT Western Mich (Slotted for Minnesota)

I think any of these could be as good as a WR.   Anderson is a big guy and could really bring the two TE set that was so effective with Chudzinski.

This dude is an idiot, 6 QB’s taken ahead of us and we settle for that? If Ridley isn’t there, no other WR is worth reaching for in the first. BTW, GB sure as hell won’t choose him, their OL and defense is pathetic.

I would say about 75% of these mock drafts are B.S. anyhow.

IMO, Most of these guys write with a player they want to fall to a certain team and come up with some justifiable reason why those player get selected.   Go down the list, find that one player that seems way out of place and that writer is probably close to that team.

I post these just to create conversation.

I like Miller but is that too high for him? could probably get him in the 2nd? I just there are a few WR we could get later that would fill our need there...

    • I'm super excited about the guys we're getting back, and fortunately this year, outside of Robert Hunt, we haven't had any season-threatening injuries. Rico has earned the start, but I am excited to have both available.  The team is finally turning into the run-first team Canales said he wanted to be. As for JT Sanders, I think he has lost the most be being out. He is probably our best receiving TE, but with the emergence of Mitchell Evans & with him and Tommy Tremble both absolutely balling in run blocking, it will be hard to fix something that isn't broken. I'm hoping Turk Wharton can help with our pass rush. We really havent gotten to see him much due to injuries, but we desperately need anyone to provide some pass rush juice, which is what he was brought to do. I'm the most excited about Jalen Coker returning. Theilen may have been the most clutch last year, but I've watched a lot of film, and Coker was the most consistent WR we had when he was out there last year.  I think he can be an ideal #2 to Tmac. While Coker doesn't have the raw athleticism XL does, his route running, savvy, and overall football IQ simply make him better.  I think with the fact Coker can play both outside and in the slot will give our pass game more versatility.  We have been running a lot of 2 TE sets, and I think Tmac & Coker should be the primary WRs for 12 personnel. The other WRs (XL, Tremayne, Renfrow, & Horn) all have roles, but I dont think any of them can fully replace what Coker can do. I do think Renfrow will be inactive this week if everyone is healthy bc of how valuable Tremayne is for ST and as a run blocker. So happy that we are playing meaningful football heading into November. We are still almost certainly a year away, but we are absolutely moving in the right direction
