Jonathan Stewart critiques last year's offense

Love Stew for what he's done and been here, but I think he's done.

That aside, I don't know that I've ever heard a player say THIS specific criticism about their ousted former OC.  Sounds like internally it was every bit the trainwreck that it appeared to be externally.  Shula just isn't a very good coach or playcaller and his indecisiveness was always evident.

Criticism of former coaches is very rare. It's generally "thank you for everything you did for us and best of luck on your future" or some such.

The exceptions tend to be either highly personal (players and coaches that heavily dislike each other) or very generic (like "it was just a bad fit" or "we needed to move in a different direction").

A player essentially saying that a former coach didn't know what he was doing? Yikes.

Probably pointing this out because he figures he could be cut.

Fortunately for Stewart he shared carries with DWill for years so he doesn’t have as many miles on his legs as others do at his age... could profit immediately from our change in OC

That's not how it works.  It's the age, not the carries...unless you are talking about 350+ attempts.

If things were really this bad, it makes Rivera look like a complete stooge for not making this move a year ago.

Always thought that Shula was the rope he would hang himself with...guess not.

Ron is a good X's and O's guy, but too loyal (vets and Shula), and too slow to understand the "new" NFL.

Either way, at least he made the move...better late than never.

Oh I give him credit for actually making the move. Though honestly I don't think he had much of a choice if we want to be honest, since he was being pushed to make a move last year.

But I hope it isn't too little too late after almost sacrificing our QB for a winning record. He also considered zero outside candidates and that should be a little alarming considering his penchant for stubbornly forcing his philosophy at all costs. I just hope he let's Norv run things his own way.

Ron’s like Marvin Lewis or Jeff Fisher— guys that will go year after year on “insanity”— refuse to move cheese, fear of reprisal or whatever, ok with mediocrity and “stability”

i think Marty got to see what “fired” looks like— probably said to Ron— do you want to see what “fired” looks like? “nope”

sorry Mike, gotta go. “Norv, I’ll get on my knees for you oh” like Top Gun bad singing—

stewart never says anything, like nothing but fluffy white clouds about every body— like the perfect loyal teammate, never makes waves— just does his job.

for him of all people to call out Shula and the staff? Wow—

man with his fluffy white clouds personality— the situation must have been FAR worst.

like dumb and dumber worst.

From David Newton (link)

This situation may actually have been even worse than what we knew.

I think it's exactly what I knew it was since day one with that Shula feller....he always was a poo bag and always will  be. Horrible coach all around and no poo....i think we just burned another TO because Shula is lost trying to read his crayon plays.

Just too affable to be a situational coach.

calling plays needs someone who is decisive and deliverate.

Not shula obviously.

Yup this only adds to the feelings of Rivera being inept....this doesn't help Rivera's image at all and he is what we know he is as well. A mediocre coach with HoF all time talent at two key positions who continually deflects from himself.

Rivera is still a hindrance to the success of this football team.

I said initially that Hurney played a role in the quick ouster of Shula.

I think Rivera was given an ultimatum of sorts before his extension.
