Cloverfield Series

The Lobo

Recommended Posts

Anyone watch the new one on Netflix yet? I am a huge fan of the series and the whole story outside the movies. For those of you who don’t know google that poo. Clover field ARG (alternate reality game) is a bunch of websites with clues, codes to decipher, hidden secrets in the movies and other plot points not mentioned in the story. Each movie is connected, yet somewhat not connected. Great story telling in and out of the movie. The fact that the releases are so secretive and sudden make these movies more fun. Rumor is, a fourth cloverfield movie will be released this summer and it centers around WW2 and allied forces fighting nazi experiments...awesome.

another fun fact: the last two were passed up scripts that JJ Abrams company picked up and turned them into cloverfield movies.

Anyway, let me know what you all though.

I didn't like either of the first movies. Will definitely never watch the first one again. I thought the web games were cool until I watched the movie. Think I'll skip this one.

That’s fair, but please don’t listen to the article. This movie is what connects the movies. I will admit, the second one really had nothing to do with the first, other than the fact that John Goodman’s character worked for a company mentioned in cloverfield 1. This movie deals with alternate realities and rips in space time. The monster at the end had everything to do with the other movies and shows that what happened in this movie, led to the events in the first two. Anyway, if you are bored one day, it’s worth a watch.

I saw the first 2 and was excited to hear that this was out on Netflix after the SB. Was going to watch it last night until I read everywhere how horrible it was. I couldn't find one positive thing that was said. Basically said Netflix bought it dirt cheap because no movie distributor wanted to touch it.

Don’t listen to critics who have had a bone to pick with 1) Netflix movies in general as i believe there is a concerted effort to blast movies like this and Bright to kill Netflix hope into feature films. And 2) because the release of this movie was so direct and fast critics didn’t get there special treatment where they got to watch it first.

The critics against this movie have never been more meaningless because people don’t have to read the reviews they can just watch it for themselves.

ive loved every single cloverfield movie. The first one is in my top 5 all time.

I loved it. The experience and the mystery of that whole movie left me in aw.

Just curious, how old were you when you saw it?

I saw it in theaters so assume it was around when it came out, would have made me 26.

That is the great thing about movies though, they all have their audience.  My favorite (Cloud Atlas) is loathed by probably one-third of those that have seen it.

I guess to me it was the first true monster movie of my generation. I must have been 14 when I saw it. I didn’t grow up with Godzilla or Frankenstein or Dracula or King Kong.

The websites and the viral media surrounding the release and not knowing what the monster was until you were in the theater was so cool.

I guess older people didnt like the way it was filmed though

Possibly.  I do remember looking forward to it because the preview was really good, one of the better ones I have seen.  Made you want to see it without giving anything away.

It came out in 2008 but it was still not that far removed from 9/11 so seeing the Statue of Liberty head getting thrown through nyc was crazy to see

    • I hate seeing this. I'm not sure he was ever going to make it in the NFL without the injury but that injury knocked FSU out of the college football playoffs and cost him and them and opportunity on the biggest stage in college sports. The injuries are the worst part of this game.
    • I don't know what Texas A&M was doing with their edge rushers. They had two freaks in Scourton and Shemar Stewart and yet instead of turning them loose they asked them to play 20 lbs overweight and just set the edge. That's full-on coaching malpractice at any level. Much was made about Shemar Stewart's lack of sack production, but while he wasn't my favorite prospect this year a lot of that was clearly what they were asking him to do. The good news with Scourton is that, unlike Stewart, did manage to be a huge factor as a pass rusher despite this and despite playing 20 lbs overweight. If he can stay around 260-265 it should help him re-gain some of that explosiveness from his Purdue days.
    • I did, but again we're aware of the practice in college of inflating height/weight as well as what is considered normal and his freshman weight tells a lot. There was a recent Raw Room episode where at one point they were discussing putting on their "big boy weight" when they go to the pros. It's common for guys to have to slap on 20lbs over the summer, but King Dunlap mentioned having to put on 30 and how much of a toll that took on his body. That makes the idea of putting on 50 at the college level even harder to believe. I've got experience with cutting weight and that type of drop sounds just awful... and that's even if doing it healthy and not just turning yourself into a piece of human jerky. Having to add 50? Noooooo thank yoooou. I can understand wanting to take Scourton at face value, but we didn't take Bryce at face value either (and for good reason!). Give the recently posted videos a shot. I watched the one you linked even though I've already seen it, so why not extend the same courtesy? I think you'll find yourself getting more excited about his Purdue tape than you will being irritated by what you believe are false narratives being pushed. 😄
