Would you sell the farm for Barkley...

no. we can package our 2nd and Buf's 3rd and move into the top 10 in the 2nd round and grab a RB. IF Barkley is the only Day 1 running back then there is a handful of great NFL talent RB in the 2nd. I believe RB is a HUGE need for this team. We do not need another year of Stewart running into the back of our oline. i pray now that shula is gone he no longer runs another -2 yard sweep on 2nd and 10.

So, here's the thing. I've watched every single snap of Barkleys college career. My dad graduated from PSU and we had season tickets growing up, so I'm a big fan.

Saquon Barkley is the BEST player I've ever seen play at PSU. My dad agrees. He has been watching PSU games since the late 60's, and me since the late 80's.

Barkley is just so special. His combination of speed, power, agility, quickness, burst, intelligence, catching agility, route running, competitive nature, I could go on and on.

And he's a fantastic person off the field, a great teammate, and a student of the game.

Barkley can be a true game changer at the next level. He just gets yards and finds the endzone. 4.3 speed with the power to run through NFL defenders. You can send him up the middle and he'll find a hole or move the pile forward. You can run him off the edge and his speed will get him around the corner. You can send him out in passing routes and not only will he get separation, but he will run a crisp route and make incredible catches plus run after the catch. You can throw him a screen and he'll take it to the house with his vision in the open field and incredible speed.

All of that said, I don't think he's worth trading the farm to go get. This team has too many holes, and trading up to get Barkley would create even more holes. If we want any chance at competing next season (Kalil and TDs last, and maybe Pepp too), then we need to go hard for All In Compete Now moves. Not trade future assets for a rookie.

If you took the assets you are willing to give up for Saquon and used them to fill in the current roster holes with veteran players, this team is competitive at a Super Bowl level for the next 3-5 years.

Barkley doesn't immediately elevate us to Super Bowl level because the OL, WR, and defense all have so many other holes to fill.

He Won’t run 4.3 more like 4.55 to 4.6 He tan the 100 m in 11.4 in grade 12 which is mediocre Good player tho

CMC is our feature back.  Those who don’t think he can be obviously have never watched Turners offenses

the same Norv turn that had Emmitt Smith and LaDainian Tomlinson when successful? Followed up two bust teams and a handful of busts stops in between those two.

I would absolutely not sell the farm for Barkley and I think Barkley is a near can't miss NFL stud, despite the noted NFL struggles of past Penn State RBs. The guy looks like Ladainian Tomlinson with more power.

But, I think #4 is Barkley's floor. I see no way that Cleveland would pass on him twice. The cost of trading up from #24 to #4 is simply prohibitive. Especially for a RB. It's one thing if you're a good team that's just a QB away and you think that trade gets you your franchise QB but IMO that's the only way a move like that even begins to make sense.

Yup.  Consider this:  https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp?RequestTeam=CAR

We would need to move from 24 (740) to 4 (1800), which assumes he will be there at 4.  To get there then, we would need to come up with 1060 points in trade value.  The entire rest of our draft is worth 707 points, so we would have to make up the difference (about 350 points) somehow.  Next year's first round pick is worth 500 points.  The second round pick is worth 210, and the third round 95.  So *maybe* we could get away with trading our entire 2018 draft and next year's second and third, but what's more likely is we would have to trade this year's first, second, and both thirds along with next year's first to get him.

No way does Hurney trade away next year's first.  Right?
