The Lions have franchised Ziggy Ansah.

I'd seen a few people speculate he'd be a best on our D-Line but I don't know if anyone thought it was a realistic possibility.

And now, it definitely isn't.

I wanted him but never thought he'd hit the market, this was expected.

Figured he would get tagged. I fully expect Demarcus Lawrence to soon be tagged also.

There’s really no difference makers out there to help our DL unless a Robert Quinn gets cut. And that’s doubtful.

Yep, it's uncommon for players at premium positions hit the open market during the prime of their career. This year will be the first year I can remember when there are going to be multiple decent QBs during their prime available on the open market. It'll be interesting to watch how all that shakes out.

In other NFL news, the Colts signed Tom Rathman to be their runningback coach.

I'm not sure how many people remember Rathman (how many fullbacks does anyone remember) but I always liked him as a player and from what I know, he's been a decent coach.

That sucks, I know I’m disappoited every FA, but I really wanted this one...oh well.

That kinda thing happens on an annual basis, honestly.

We always get excited about who might be a free agent but whether by franchise tag or just plain re-signing, most of the best ones never make it that far. And even some that do get gobbled up quickly.

Michael Crabtree was another name a few folks on here had bandied about. Looks like he's sticking in Oakland.
