Panthers trade Worley for Torrey Smith

Yes.  Probably because teams were worried about their other pass catchers in Algholor, Jeffrey and Ertz.

Not really-  Torrey really got downtown and Foles had the balls and accuracy to hit him.

Well, Torrey Smith has alligator arms, so I'm not sure what your point is.

If Alshon could put together a full year with Wentz, I think he can get 100 catches.  Hell, he had high 90s twice with Jay F Cutler throwing him the ball.

Torrey has great hands.

Alshon is awesome.

Get him through trade instead of letting him hit the open market and possibly getting more.  Why so much hate?  Could be rejuvenated here much like Ginn was.

LOL.  So right.  These guys assume that if he were released he'd automatically become a Panther by default?  How's that work?

Well, I didn't mention Torrey Smith, so I'm not sure what your point is.

If you would read what I actually wrote, you'd understand I think it's a fallacy that a team needs a 100 catch receiver.

I'm not a huge Hurney guy, but I think this was a good move.

I'm going on the assumption Cam is a better deep passer than Wentz.  Someone can disagree if they want.  But if that is the case, and Smith is a deep thread, Smith will get more opportunities and will put up better numbers here.

We keep our future comp picks, get a veteran speed guy, avoid bidding wars on limited cap space, add a manageable and flexible contract, and fill a really important need in Norv Turner's offense.

Between Olsen, Funchess, Samuel, Smith, and CMC - Cam will have a lot of options.  Re-sign Byrd and add a decent TE2 and RB in the draft, and our offense will be ready to roll.

On its surface, I don't consider this a nuclear level bad trade. I'd require some convincing to call it a good trade though.

We got older, lost cap space, maybe filed a need but at the same time probably also lost some depth at a position that wasn't exactly rock solid to begin with.

We'll see how it plays out, but right now I'm kind of meh.

We got older isn't an issue when we were too young in WR. We minimalized capital and got rid of an expense and liability. We did fill a need but we aren't done.

I’m very excited. We have Gunter, Elder and of course probably a draft pick.

worley got killed by Michael Thomas after coming back from being benched,..

comes out of the New Orleans game, Gunter shut Thomas down for a quarter then Worley comes back and gets killed some more—- Brees was just blowing him up.

torrey on the other hand catches clutch touchdowns in the playoffs and Super Bowl from Nick Foles—

damn he will look good with Cam

We filled a need by bringing in a veteran receiver who is solid if unspectacular, and we used less cap space than we would have signing Watkins or even Wallace.  Regarding corner, I do wonder if the staff feels that Elder or Seymour might be a better bet than DW.  Or they may be setting us up to bring back Norman.  :)

I hear you.  But this is the NFL, not fantasy football.  No one is getting trade-raped.  We got something we needed.  Philly got something they needed.  If Smith stretches the field, gets around 600-700 yards, and 3-4 TDs, I'd call it a success.  We needed the balance.

At the same time, we have about 9 CBs on our roster (including Worley).  We really only need 5.  Maybe we felt we had guys just as good as Worley playing behind him.
