Not seeing the logic, it's not like we backed out without cause

We're probably pissed and feel like he and/or his agent misled the hell out of us. They probably either completely withheld the injury or greatly downplayed it. I'm sure he wasn't the only CB we were considering and then by the time he finally drug his ass to Charlotte for our docs to get eyes on his trench rotted foot it was too late to make an alternate move on another quality young FA CB. Breeland fuged us and burned that bridge.

Hell, delaying his arrival in Charlotte was likely planned. They were probably hoping that since all the other quality options would be off the market by that point that we'd be desperate enough to just sign him anyway.

I thought it was weird when he didn't show to sign on Wednesday but I didn't think too much into it, but it quickly became apparent yesterday why that was. I mean, if you had a multi-million dollar contract on the table, wouldn't you be there ASAP? My ass would've been camping out outside of the Panthers' office like those idiots at Best Buy leading up to Black Friday.

Yea so not sure how this could be spun against us in any way shape or form. You can't just show up to sign a good contract with a fuged up foot that needs a skin graft and be like "oh yea that, had me a cut"..."stubbed it ya know"...."the usual 4 month stubbed foot cut recovery time".

Voth is saying the PC thing here, but I'm betting both sides have no interest in revisiting.

Breeland obviously thinks the injury is no big deal and I'm sure the Panthers feel misled by Breeland not disclosing what their doctors  (and frankly any doctor) would think. And that delay obviously cost them the opportunity to negotiate with other players that have since signed contracts.

It's an unfortunate situation, but Breeland screwed himself and only has himself to blame.

I think he will ultimately sign a 1 year incentive laden deal and try again for FA next year

Our doctors when they saw that foot

I could have compound fractures in both legs and I assure you I'd act like it was "no big deal" if it was standing between me and a multi-million dollar contract.

    • This is from 5 months ago. It was one or the other. Trade for one or draft one. We apparently called the Jets about Wilson. We also talked to the Seahawks about Metcalf. Drafting our own guy was the best course of action given the required investment. Regardless now is the time for Bryce Young to produce. We are fourth amongst all teams in cap spending on the OL. Back to back first round picks at WR and multiple young TE draft picks now. Very solid and respectable backfield. New pieces across the defense. The time is now.
    • That was just the worst time to have their worst game of the season. One key deal was the broncos guess the Panthers would NOT change any plays or flow to the game. Another key point overlook that bronco defense was truly one of the best in the NFL history. It was the best defense the Panthers faced that year, by far. They were not ready for it, but broncos were ready for the Panthers. Mix in that bad luck, poor refs showcase, and this is the golden boys last game........ Panthers needed to win by 20 and the broncos defense was not going to allow that.  Panthers were the favorites and I believe they also thought that it was going to easier than them destroying NFC playoff teams as they marched to the SB. I've heard darin Gantt say the play calls were to give remmers help, but for some reason the team never did it. During the year they never had that problem, so maybe never practiced giving help via TE/RB, or WR chip. Cam was superman that year, no need for any adjustments...... Until you meet a legendary defense with studs at all levels, Think about it, Peyton was throwing wingless dunks for the whole season, the defense had to carry his corpse to the SB. That's how good they were, not many defense are able to get to the playoffs and win a SB without decent QB play. If you recall the beginning of that defense took Tim Teblows and his non-throwing arse to the playoffs couple years before. That's insane the level of defense needed to overcome.
