Just an fyi, the names he has heard connected to the Panthers in the first are pretty widespread:

Hayden Hurst

Mike Hughes

DJ Moore

Calvin Ridley

Jaire Alexander

Ronnie Harrison

James Daniels

Anthony Miller

Donate Jackson

Of those, they seemed 'The most realistic option for Hurst in the first'

Don't kid yourself on the grades of these tight ends, Hurst especially. Two of them have very solid first round grades.

Who I’m guessing Donate Jackson is a typo?

Yeah I don't see Miller, or Harrison as first rounders. I think it's Ridley, DJ Moore or Hurst as our pick. Hurst most likely since those wrs will be gone. They are focused on helping offense.

Do they have Hurst over Goedert?  If Hurst is gone would they consider Goedert?

Personally I think Goedert has a bit higher of a ceiling.

I would say other than Hurst they like Gesecki because they have met when him and went to his pro day. I haven't heard hardly anything about Panthers being interested in Goedert. I think you have to be careful with him he didn't play against nobody in college.

Sorry, I appreciate your posts, but this list is not very interesting. It's basically a list of the players rated somewhere in the 1st/2nd round grades that we have had in for visits. That's not news. I could have given you that list and I've heard nothing. I just check out the sites that list the visits to see who we've looked at, knowing that we've only gone through 16 of our allowed 30 visits (Alexander and Hurst were local players, so don't count as official visits).

What if there is nothing else to hear?

This guy has pretty good sources. I would say he knows alot more than you.

That's because teams show their hand the most for the first two days, idk what to tell you, that is just the list that he gave me. I am not sure how he would honestly know what the Panthers were doing beyond interest and names. If they are considering you in the first two rounds, 80% of the time they had some form of contact. I am kind of just thinning the visits list I guess?

Hayden Hurst is the best TE in the draft by a good margin. Greg Cosell raves about him. His age (24) is his biggest issue for teams.

I think the main thing we can take from Verge is general info or evaluations of players.  While teams generally do have an idea of what other teams are looking to do, it is often based on the same things we fans base our guesses on.  Think about it, no team is going to broadcast their exact plans, so everyone not associated with the team is left to extrapolate from team needs, visits, other methods of interest shown in players, etc. what the team may do.  Heck, if you do hear anything specific, it's likely smoke.

Now, other teams do have the advantage of real and complete evaluations of players using resources and access that the Daniel Jeremiah's and Mike Mayock's of the world don't have.  Thus, they would logically have a better sense if a team is looking at a guy as an early pick or later in the draft.  But absent a spy in the war room, they are left to the same devises as we are to figure out what they might do.

So, be thankful that Verge provides an insight on players that we otherwise wouldn't have, but also understand that since his source works for another team he has limited info on the Panthers exact plan.
