This team needs a CB who can play legitimate press man. Jackson is a soft, flat footed zone CB whose armwork isn't much better.

"that totally fits our scheme!" Then it shouldn't. Your scheme should never mandate taking inferior talents.

Josh Jackson has the best ball skills in this draft. Something we've SORELY missed since Josh. We don't have any playmakers in our back 4.

I also really like Oliver, and wouldnt care if we took him, but he's almost entirely a press man corner. There's no CB in this draft that can do everything day 1 when we draft them.

Facts about Jackson- only a 2 star recruit coming out of high school Has started only 14 games for Iowa which is not school noted for real athletic players and ran only 4.56 40 which slow for an nfl corner Might be worth fourth rounder but not first People are over celebrating the game vs Ohio st where Barrett stunk

Look at you ignoring the ones who are paid to scout these players. (And I'm not talking about the journalist).

Haha so cmc could have been a corner as he played corner in high school? Ran 4.48 and the perfect size and athleticism for the position

What

Does that have to do with anything.

You said 4.57 was slow for a corner in the NFL.

I showed you 3 probowl corners with similar speed. In the NFL.

What does McCaffrey, a running back have to do with that?

Please no safety in the first. There won’t be a safety there at 24 that shouldn’t be considered a reach imo. I would like to see:

1: cb/ol

2: safety

3a: wr

3b:rb/de/lb

Derwin James would like a word with you

Josh Norman ran a 4.57

Richard Sherman ran a 4.56

Casey Hayward ran a 4.57

40 times don't really mean much for zone corners.

Ok Fact is that none of these guys were first rounders In fact sherman and Norman were fifth rounders partly because of their 40  speed So that makes me question why Jackson is suddenly a first rounder with several big question marks. He may succeed like some of these slower guys but it’s a risky first round gamble

I like all of those guys...I feel like Jackson is the best value/fit for the pick. I wouldn’t be mad about Moore if he’s really as explosive as he’s billed to be. I think that these WRs are getting a really watered down eval compared to previous years bc of all the first round busts. Moore reminds me a lot of Deandre Hopkins..

Because?? Of guys like Norman, Sherman and Hayward??? Zone cover and off man corners with ball skills are at a premium right now. Especially for us.

Josh Jackson's strengths are his awareness, ball skills and coverage skills. He had more than "one good game" against OSU and constantly held up well when targeted.

Combine measurables aren't everything. You need talent to go along with athleticism.

Not a first round risk First rounders should have few if any question marks . This guy as borderline athleticism for a corner and has only started 14 games at Iowa We are not talking about alabama or Ohio state athlete here

    • AT got what he deserved. Be gone and enjoy those 4 catches and the bench and your pay cut
    • we have been bad offensively basically every game Rico Dowdle hasn't gone full Tecmo Bowl Bo Jackson on folks.
    • Strongly disagree with the premise here. Without getting too into it, the biggest gripe for many has always been his footwork and pocket presence.  Shallow drops, happy feet, bad awareness - his overall technique is highly unconventional and not beneficial to his size/frame.  His upper body gets mad out of sync with his lower, drops back parallel to the LOS, erratic behavior. When you take that to the NFL level, you get swallowed up. And he got shellshocked and started bailing way too soon on plays. Unnecessary throwaways when he should step UP into the pocket and hit.   He got away with it in school because sooo much of his work was out of structure or quick hits to Jamo.  He was able to not bail early and stick in the pocket this last game. He also was dropping deeper than he usually does to create sight lanes. He can’t really outrun DLs so he needs to create that space via drop to survey properly. When he does these bs skip hops in the gun, he barely drops and is flooded. He needs to stay active with his feet but learn to step into the pocket more.  His average arm when he’s not doing this right turns Pennington esque.
