Do we have a recent "who do we want as new GM" thread?

To me, I think that's more intriguing than the owners stuff.

Probably still Hurney for this season, I'd guess.  After that, probably someone new, but we'll see. Who it'll be in that scenario probably depends on who Navarro might look to as a consultant.

If it's Accorsi, for example, the candidate pool likely includes Kevin Abrams and might even include Marc Ross or Louis Riddick.  If he were to go to with Ron Wolf, his son Eliot is currently Assistant GM of the Browns.  Other possible options include Charley Casserly, Carl Peterson our old buddy Bill Polian and even Tony Dungy.

All these guys are part of the NFL's "career advisory panel", and lately that seems to be where teams are going for consultants (Accorsi is a popular one).  Some say that each one has their "pet guy" so once you know the consultant, you probably know who the GM will be.

Other possible GM candidates? Nick Caserio has been up for the last few but there's question whether he wants to leave New England.  Seahawks co-personnel directors Trent Kirchner (Panther connections) and Scott Fitterer get a lot of play too.  Ryan Cowden's name gets brought up a lot here because of his Panthers history.  And speaking of history, maybe they'll take another look at Jimmy Raye and Lake Dawson.

All I know for sure is I'm hoping for the best possible candidate.

First World Problems: my team is for sale and it's just too difficult for me

To be fair people sit on here and argue about if we need a corner or a safety for hours. I feel like worrying about the teams soon to be ownership is the most pressing issue and could set us on one of three coarses for the next 1,2,3,4, maybe 5 decades. Thriving, being terrible, or leaving. Fans talk about drafts and passrushes and protections all the time. But it’s weird for me to be anxious the NFL is gonna fleece us out of a good owner? I bet when Snyder bought the Redskins their was a pretty insignificant draft going on and while what we talk and or worry about as fans probably won’t change much. I feel like my focus on what’s important as a fan is pretty rational.

On the topic of timing: If the new owner has been chosen, it wouldn't surprise me to see it announced early next week.

If it isn't announced before Wednesday though, I believe they'll wait until the following week so as not to take away from Draft coverage.

That's all speculation of course, but it's consistent with the way the NFL tends to do business.

We have such dedicated fans. Swayed by choice of GM consultants.

No doubt lmao.... People say that crap over seemingly every thing. “If we draft this player who burned me in college I’ll have to seriously consider changing teams”

If that’s ever really a real thought pattern you could have, I somehow doubt you were a fan to begin with.

Can Mister go ahead and accept this bid? Ready for this to be over so everyone can move on.

It's over and has been over for a while - the only people pretending this thing is still going are people who get their information by reading articles on the internet, like the dimwitted author of this thread. Kestenbaum, Black, and Tepper have all been out for a while. Navarro has won.

Also unclear why people are bragging about being verbally abused by their parents. My father, may he rest in peace, was as old school as they come (b. 1924), but never once would have called me or my brothers anything like "shithead". And I can never imagine doing that to my sons.

You read this kind of thing and it's really no wonder that there is so much meathead mentality remaining in this game. "Got to toughen 'em up! Water breaks are for snowflakes!"

Most people involved in football are nothing like this idiotic caricature, but the ones who are...they live by it almost as an aspirational model. It's invariably pathetic and doesn't yield anything like the results it purports to.

You are the single worst poster I've seen on here in years. There is also no doubt in my mind that you never coached a down of football in your life.
