Ian Rapoport: David Tepper Wants To Keep The Panthers In Charlotte

Recommended Posts

Of course that's what he's saying now. It means nothing. This is like when your company gets bought out, and the new owners assure everyone that they aren't moving the office and everyone will keep their same jobs.

If Tepper thinks he can make more money moving the team, he'll say "Nothing personal, Charlotte, it's just good business."

What did I say? Tepper could sell his homes and literally start living in the stadium, could run for mayor and get elected, and some people would still say we're going to move.

Just heard on WFNZ that there will be a clause that if he moves the team he will have to pay 200 to 300 million to the city or something.   To a guy paying 2 billion for a team, that’s nothing.  Don’t hedge your bets that the team won’t move at some point.  I’ve pretty much checked out of the NFL and this team so I really don’t care one way or the other.  It’s a crap shoot if he or Vavarro will be a good owner.   Only time will tell.

you obviously haven't read the forum for the past week or so

I've been here, and not a single, relevant poster expected the team to be moved. The panthers are a great market and it wouldn't make good business sense, which is what the decision is ultimately about for a guy who plans to invest in the PantherCo. property and maintain it from a 1000 miles away.

But it's also a guy so stingy with his money that he was excited to turn 60 so he could start getting senior discounts at restaurants.

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
