Note to Fox: Delhomme is no more than a GAME MANAGER.

If that, as we all know by now, the days of Jake Delhomme being great QB (like in 2003 and 2005) are long gone. He needs to just back of and manage the game. and if he cant do it without turning the ball over, then put a new game manager in. Truth be told, you can win a championship by running the ball and playing defense, which we do well. 3 aspects are holding this team back- Delhomme, offensive line (pass protection) special teams. The only answer i have is to minimize Jake's role in the offense. The less he has to do, the better.

the pressure to get steve smith his touches makes us throw when we shouldn't..i think we should just incorporate smith into the run game and screw passing unless it's a slant, a screen, a deep pass to smith(they work every now and then..if it's picked it's just like a punt :P)...

If we are forced to pass..TE's should get most of the catches if they are open..never ever have jake throwing into tight coverage at this point unless he get's some sort of TV-movie inspiration and becomes good.

He's never been 'dominant' but he's always been good, despite the criticism he's gotten on this board. He's thrown INTs in his day but he's always made up for it with big bombs and TDs. I think Jake is done now but that's not going to stop me from remembering him as a good QB.

Game managers do not lead the NFL in turnovers. That is why they are considered game managers b/c there are depended upon to protect the ball and let the team win games.

i dont think i agree with your assessment of a game manager. To me, there are 'game managers' then you have the Great QBs that win games. Game Managers hand the ball off, and pass very few times, just as needed. like Kerry Collins last year, Titans played D and ran the football. Collins threw only as he needed to. of course this year, that Defense is absent, and so i collins.

Fox thinks Jake is better than he actually is.

One note before we write off Jake at this point, There is a long history of guys who were injured who it took time to get back and even who were relegated to backups like Kurt Warner, or who had a few bad years in a row- Brett Favre.

Right now he is surely not playing well but he has always been streaky. He could come back and play better if we get on a roll. On the other hand he could have some more bad games. As long as we keep winning, I know I don't care.

    • Yeah I'm still not sure about Canales' play calling but I'll give him another season. Still can't quite figure out why you think Young won't work out. His numbers with Theilen are as good as any QB Theien's ever had - including the three games he has started with Rogers this year. Cokers' numbers are as good as Theilens and he is an UDFA and TMac is in the run for ORTY with Young as his QB. Young's throwing more accurately now (from 21.5% in 23 to 16.5% this year) and he has shown he can make the throws in clutch moments. If you take into account he was saddled with XL, Chark, Mingo and Johnson for receivers at one point, had a coaching staff his first year that didn't want him and a current coach who is suspect at play calling, I'm not sure he has been as bad as people here say. I know he has had terrible moments/games but most qb's still on their rookie contract will.  Anyway, had to give my weekly BY plug. Guess I thought this was the perfect time lol.
    • He missed a lot of time. Was slow getting back up to speed. And we have an offense that is not exactly WR friendly so his targets were low.  How many targets does anyone get when you have 120 yards passing, 54 yards passing, 160 yards, most of the time? It probably took the time it needed to take.
    • The 5th year option jus gives them a little more time to make their decision and figure out the position going forward.  The idea that it means hes def gonna get a extension is asinine.
