25 on defense

PK: Graham Gano

P: Michael Palardy

LS:  J.J. Jansen

3 on special teams

Bolded players are my best guess at game 1 inactives.

For the longest time I was convinced Byrd wouldn't make the team but now i'm thinking he might be our return guy.  I've got 6 DEs which is more than normal I think.  Bryan Cox Jr. seems to have earned a spot and not sure if they are ready to give up on Hall yet.

I went back and forth between a 6th LB, 6 CB, 11th OL, or 4th RB.

Wow,  you're optimistic about the Oline.  Matt, Amini and Sirles all back for week 1 would be surprising. But good if true.

I think we keep Barner over CAP.

And I still think Manhertz could start on the PUP since they haven't activated him. They may need his roster spot for extra OL depth.

Interesting that Clausell is not active with Kalil and Sirles injured. That's a bold move. I think I'd sit CAP in this situation and activate Clausell. On D, I want Haynes over Cox JR. With Dallas' o-line woes, a speed rusher could be useful against second and third string tackles.

This is a hard prediction because of OL injuries. If we only carry 10 OL (this includes carrying Williams for 24 hours so he can go on "IR to Return" list) then we only have 2 healthy backups week 1 due to Sirles and Kalil injuries. So it's like we have to carry 11 (at least for just 24 hours after cuts) just to have bodies for the line. This is what mine looks like after the initial cut down:

OFFENSE:
WR1: Devin Funchess - #Jarius Wright# - Damiere Byrd
LT: Matt Kalil - Blaine Clausell
LG: Greg Van Roten - (Brendan Mahon)
C: Ryan Kalil - Tyler Larsen
RG: Trai Turner - #Jeremiah Sirles#
RT: Taylor Moton - #Adam Bisnowaty# - +Darryl Williams+
TE: Greg Olsen - *Ian Thomas* - #Evan Baylis#
WR2: #Torrey Smith# - *D.J. Moore* - Curtis Samuel
QB: Cam Newton - #Taylor Heinicke#
FB: Alex Armah
RB: Christian McCaffrey - #C.J. Anderson# - Cameron Artis-Payne - #Kenjon Barner#

DEFENSE:
LE: Julius Peppers - Bryan Cox Jr.
UT: Kawann Short - Vernon Butler
NT: #Dontari Poe# - Kyle Love
RE: Mario Addison - Wes Horton - *Marquis Haynes*
SLB: Shaq Thompson - Jared Norris
MLB: Luke Kuechly - David Mayo
WLB: Thomas Davis - *Jermaine Carter Jr.*
LCB: James Bradberry - Captain Munnerlyn - Corn Elder
RCB: *Donte Jackson* - #Lorenzo Doss#
SS: Mike Adams - Colin Jones
FS: #Da'Norris Searcy# - *Rashaan Gaulden*

SPECIAL TEAMS:
K/KO: Graham Gano
P/H: Michael Palardy
KR: Damiere Byrd - Curtis Samuel - #Kenjon Barner# - *D.J. Moore* - Christian McCaffrey
PR: Damiere Byrd - #Kenjon Barner# - Christian McCaffrey - *D.J. Moore* - Corn Elder

    • I could be waaaaaaay off about Kon. I do fault myself into, to borrow a NFL phrase heavily "RAS" nerd on players, too much. There are PLENTY of athletic freak shows that are playing overseas(or Amazon delivery) cause they never figured out NBA ball. I can easily miss seeing the talent. Plus did he only have 2 dunks on the season??(is that for real??) I didn't watch over a few hours of duke, but not one point did I think "That Kon guy is a top 4 pick in the upcoming draft". IMO I still foresee Ball bringing the ball up, doing his weak isolation game and never even looking for Kon. That's his best trait according to everyone, shooting right? I do not see ball, bridges, miller or even williams making the extra pass to Kon for him to shoot a 3.  Then defense-wise, Im not ready to type the amount of questions I foresee in his ability for guarding NBA SGs or bench SFs for that matter. Not that NBA players care to defend, but still..... I just feel he's a bad fit for the current hornets, trades are taking place tho... Liam to me is a decent comp for Kon and he fell some, but was a 29 overall pick. Still around 13-21 was the good solid range for Liam and I thought the same for Kon. This is just a classic case of I need to see it. It add to this, Kon is like garlic. Ball is like sugar and Miller is like flour. Mix it together and chef Lee is not going to get me to eat that dish..... Honestly I don't know why Im this vocal about Kon. In past years I would be patience and not post and see what the kid has. The other side, insert classic white boy terms here- _____, ______, _______< etc >. Hornets do desperately need them. His crafty back door cuts, his willingness to stay a extra 2 hours to refine lees plays, keep playing with bruised limbs. I heard from many reports he's mentally tough and hornets by all gods need that. God they are such pussys.  I hope Im wrong and if so, I will give Kon his just props.
