I know its BR and I don't agree with the article... but  our deep threat has yet to catch a single deep ball.  After game four, we'll have completed a quarter of the season.  The giants secondary is crap.  He really needs to show something this week or there will more calls that we should give the snaps to Moore.

Yeah the weirdest thing about Torrey Smith is he's not even running any deep routes.

He's a dude that's run one route his entire career and we're trying to send him five yards across the middle it makes no sense.

First play of the game against the Bengals he dropped a deep one.  It was a hard catch, but it looked catchable and would have been amazing.  Instead, 2nd play we run CMC for a yard.  Then on third down Smith runs his route short of the sticks and doesn't get the first down.  3 and out.

Norv Turner just admitted yesterday that we've been playing the short game. And yet people just ignore the facts, because it doesn't fit their agenda.

And it's stupid to have Torrey on the field since he has questionable hands and can't make anyone miss

when you're throwing to the sticks, you gotta have reliable receivers who can hopefully beat the first man to them.

Soo and the point is?

1. Smith is know as a deep shot only guy his whole career, so the short game doesnt fit him at all= he needs to be benched

2. When we have taken a few deep shots, he a. has struggled to get open and b. struggled with drops= he needs to be benched.

And if we're using the Norvs short game as a way to defend Smith's inability so far.  Moore when brought in, was said we see him in short play to start more than anything.  To get the ball in his hands and let him make plays.

Theres no way to defend, the dude needs to be benched

Deep threats have to run short routes as well, otherwise the cb will just play 10 yards off.  Deep balls can't be thrown all the time, but if they hit your hands, you need to catch them.  Torry has been dropping short and deep balls.  Hopefully that ends Sunday.

so let them play ten yards off and send someone into that part of the field.

The fact is Torrey has never been a short game receiver in his career so why is he playing or running those routes?

    • This whole thing is sooooooooo dumb, why any of this is an ongoing news story is ridiculous. There are only 2 people who should actually care about this, his wife and her husband. Affairs happen, not that I'm saying it's okay to cheat, but at worst, the only "bad thing" that could be coming around from this affair is that information was passed between them, the same type of info that any coach and journalist who are friends may share with each other to help the other out. The Patriots shouldn't care as long as it doesn't affect his focus on the team.  And those saying that he's lost the locker room and their respect over the "lying" have to be fooling themselves.  Half the players in that locker room are more than likely actively or previously have cheated on their significant other.  So it's not like they're looking at him saying, "what a liar and terrible person, I can't trust him as my coach anymore"
    • Seriously?!?! First SNF game of the year and it's two teams that didn't make the playoffs last year? I thought they always made that Week 1 SNF game a banger with two great teams from the previous season. EDIT:  Just looked, last year was Bills-Ravens, previous season was Lions-Rams, Giants-Cowboys ironically before that (but both coming off the playoffs).  From what I can tell, this will be the first time since 2020 that SNF's week 1 game isn't 2 teams from the playoffs the year before, and the Cowboys were in that one too, against the Rams who also didn't make it the year before.
