Was it Delhomme that put the team on his shoulders, or was it Steve Smith Sr?

From what I remember, it was Smitty that carried this team during that era.

See 2004 - arguably Delhomme's best year. Pro Bowl and narrowly missed the playoffs - thanks defense. Oh yea, Steve Smith didnt play that year. Have to give JD some credit.

Jake never got the credit he deserved. A lot of people are bitter about his later post injury years but I put that more on coaching staff for leaving him out there when he clearly wasn’t good anymore.

Jake played great for us while here in his Prime. Remember he got Moose his contract after smitty went down.

Jake was a good QB when he had protection, same as most. Once the quality of our OL went down, so did his performance. But Smitty willed us to at least half a dozen victories by the amazingness of his sheer awesomeness.  And I'm honestly not a fan of Smitty at all.

    • I’m old enough to remember when I wanted to draft Njoku We brought back Mitchell and officially kept Tremble. Mitchell Evans isn’t going anywhere. Sanders who knows, he was awful last year I fully agree we need a better TE. This room is awful Njoku would be a massive help in the red zone. However it really seems like Dan and the FO prefer to go young on offense
    • You’re underselling Loveland imo. He’s so damn good. You can line him out wide and count on him to win 1 v 1. I don’t see that from Sadiq. Loveland is going to go over 1000 yards next season I’m not overly asking for a WR3. It’s just one of the few directions Morgan could go in round 1.  Let’s say Thieneman, Fano and Cooper are all on the board it’s a tough decision. I just don’t see how this team would take Sadiq over some of those guys given the way they run their offense. Our tight end room is easily bottom of the league so I can definitely see why someone would want a tight end though. At one point during the season I was on the Sadiq train as well. I just don’t think value wise for us specifically it makes sense given our team as a whole As far as tight ends go in this draft I really like Max Klare. Very smooth mover
    • Some of you need some serious help with the way 9 lives rent free in your heads I know for a fact, Dan loves Bryce. Bryce is his guy. This offense is very young and they’re asking Bryce to do a lot. With Idzik taking over playcalling duties it’s a move that is another step in the process of Bryce taking control of the offense. 24 years old. This youth movement on offense and putting more on 9’s shoulders is going to pay off in the long run
