If You've Been Wondering About Our Pass Rush...

should you really be surprised? Mario Addison : 31 yrs old / Peppers = 39 in January /  KK  is nearly 30 , Poe is 28 but would be 29 heading into next year .

I'm sure some of it is Washington's coaching but sweet fuging jesus man, our pass rush has been god aweful and I believe age is a huge factor. We need to spend probably at least 2 or 3 of our top picks next year on the D-line.

I dont give a fug about those stats man, what I'm watching over and over on game days is the defensive line crapping the bed in key moments late in games and not even breathing on the QB as they burn us way down the field. Just go with the eye test man.

We may but up there in pressures but what is pressure? Are we actually getting to the QB and forcing fumbles/mistakes? NOPE.

We’re actually near the top of the league in pressure %. The secondary has been atrocious.

According to PFF. I call BS. QBs knit socks in a clean pocket against our pass rush. It's not just that we aren't getting pressure, we aren't even creating the illusion of getting pressure.

Lot of blitzing.

Definitely need some better production from the DT’s. Interior pressure has been a non-factor.

Winner.

Gotta have the push in the middle.  Otherwise the qb can climb the pocket and mitigate pressure from the outside.  And if they can do that when you blitz, the d is toast.

    • There probably isn’t an orthopedic surgery that has had more improvement in technique and outcomes over the last two decades than the acl repair. Because of its importance in pro sports and the sheer number that surgeons do there have been lots of opportunities to practice 1. Better techniques - arthroscopic v open surgery means people heal faster  2. More training - all sports med surgeons have tons of experience doing them 3. better imaging - later generations of mri are more sensitive  4. better therapy - PTs have gotten better at rehabbing them and the theories of rehab have improved a lot. No idea about brooks in particular tho, but I’d describe that overall situation as “not great”
    • If Freeling or either of the Utah OTs dropped to 19 I'd be more than happy honestly. Our OT situation isn't great with an aging Moton at RT and a mess of a situation at LT if Walker goes down at any point in time.  What I'm expecting the Panthers to do is probably draft another weapon like Sadiq or KC Conception. That's been their track record in drafting R1 thus far. None of the defensive talent projected to be around 19 stands out to me. Unless they just want to draft a LB early (Rodriguez,  CJ Allen, Anthony Hill, Jake Gollday).
