From ESPN: The hottest NFL head coaching candidates

Sports Illustrated: Who's in line as the carousel starts to spin

and USA Today: NFL coaching candidates

The names I've been mentioning this season have been Saints Assistant Head Coach Dan Campbell, Vikings OC John DeFilippo and Chiefs Special Teams Coach Dave Toub.  They're all mentioned in each of these articles, though some more prominently than others.

Other names that are heavily in the conversation:

Patriots OC Josh McDaniels (ask the Colts about that one)
Patriots (sort of) DC Brian Flores (Belichick's coaching tree has Dutch Elm disease, avoid)
Saints OC Pete Carmichael (how much is Carmichael and how much is Payton?)
Chiefs OC Eric Bienemy (same problem as Carmichael, though Matt Nagy's success may help his cause)
Bears DC Vic Fangio (the Panthers first defensive coordinator, so there's a history here)
Cowboys DB Coach Kris Richard (too soon, in my opinion; the Legion of Boom bolstered his rep a lot)
Oklahoma University Coach Lincoln Riley (not a big fan of college coaches; if you are, talk me into it)

Additional names mentioned more than once across these three articles:

Vikings DC George Edwards
Titans OC Matt LaFleur
Rams QB Coach Zac Taylor
Rams Passing Game Coordinator Shane Waldron
Baylor Head Coach Matt Rhule

I'll add more detail to this later when I have a little more time. For now, I'll finish with this quote from GM Chris Ballard about my top choice, Dan Campbell.

"He’s been mentored and trained playing under Bill Parcells and coaching under Sean Payton. He’s got a great vision of what he wants (his team) to be. I think he’s going to be an outstanding head coach. It’s not a matter of if, but when."

You forgot the "none of the above". That would be my choice. All of those are going to be busy into January and none of them are familiar with the Steeler's processes.

In years past, I'd have agreed.

McCaffrey is tailor made for a WCO. So is Samuel, and a guy with Moore's YAC ability is ideal.

Throw in that one of the big needs to make a WCO work is a mobile QB. We got that. Granted, in prior years Newton wasn't an ideal WCO passer, but I think Turner has changed that.

Might need to rework the OL a little, yeah. But we probably needed to do that anyway.

A WCO base would just work better and take less retooling at this point.

I like Dan Campbell from the list of NFL guys.

I'm usually not big on hiring College guys, but two names stanf out. David Shaw has been very successful at Stanford. Then you have Urban Meyer who has won everywhere he has been, always has his teams ready for big games, and with the problems that happened at the first of the season at Ohio State, he may be willing to make a move

lmao he got pantsed by purdue this  year and leaves a trail of bodies in his wake (literally, in the case of florida) wherever he leaves

Urban is going to develop brain worms or something, retire for a year, then show up at USC or something because he's tired of the selection committee not overlooking their annual wet fart game.

Lol, good one, but the guy was at Florida for 6 years, and been at Ohio State for 7 years now. That is as long as RR has been here and a good stint for an NFL coach. Losing to Purdue or anybody can happen, but with a record of 186 - 32, an .832 winning percent, and multiple championships, his record speaks for itself. I remember the guy winning a National Title against a loaded Alabama team with his 3rd string QB

National Championship aside, he's consistently underperformed at tOSU, and his national championship win cam when Alabama fired their offensive coordinator like twenty minutes before the game. He hasn't been able to build what he did at florida, and he's doing it against less competition in the big 10.

he's also barely even coaching anymore at this point. he's just another dabo where his whole just is to recruit 5* and let his coaches handle it. It's not like they're doing anything complicated in Columbus.

Plus, Panthers fans hate coaches that are overly loyal to their underlings. Meyer....has some problems there.
