Tepper Doesn't Have The Balls To Fire Rivera Right Now, In-Season!

No disrespect, I am and all of us are in the same boat as you watching this losing season,..

but a guy that makes billions doing the Opposite of what everyone else says to so means he’s going to to do what HE wants not what you or me want.

i mean, he makes enough money to have your balls cut off any time he wants.

Lol no distespect taken.  Yes, he could pay to have my balls cut off lol.

But, again, this thread was meant to provide some levity and is in jest.

The problem with firing Ron is he made sure no one is behind him to coach defense. We have absolutely no one on defense. I would say Scott Turner would be good but once again no DC to speak of.

Why does that matter? This season is over and a lot of the staff should be replaced anyway. Winning will do nothing but have us picking further in the draft

Players getting injured because there is no one who can run the defense. It would be a nightmare.

Rivera probably cemented his firing with today's loss. I think it was going to happen anyway as the Panthers were not going to have a winning season anyway. However, there is nothing gained by firing him now.

If Tepper plans to fire Hurney also then it makes sense to hire a new GM before making a coaching hire.

The important question to answer if both are fired is who are the likely GM candidates.

Tepper has mentioned analytics many times which makes perfect sense given how he made his billions. I suspect he will be looking for a forward thinking candidate who is perhaps younger and not wedded to a traditional approach to decision making.

I suspect wholesale changes will soon be in the offing. This season has been the most disappointing season for me with the possible exception of the year after the Super Bowl loss. In fact, this season has been so disappointing that I have heard numerous people say that they will likely be getting rid of PSL's.

Tepper is getting ready to confront some unpredictable and choppy waters. He is now confronted with making many extremely important decisions. Not least of those decisions is whether this team simply needs a change of leadership and direction or a complete rebuild.

Personally, I do not think this team is as talented as the purveyors of the site seem to believe. In fact, I think it is bereft of talent on the defensive side of the ball. Beyond a few skill position players there is not great talent on the offensive side of ball either.

For many on this site, the following question borders on sacrilege; however, the new regime will need to answer it and act accordingly. Is Cam Newton a franchise QB? Personally, I am getting tired of all the excuses. Franchise QBS should elevate the play of others. Franchise QBS make plays in crunch time. Franchise QBS are leaders both in good times and in bad times. Cam Newton should be at the heights of his power. Yet, his play is marked by consistent inconsistency.

We have had a regime change on the offensive side of the  ball. Shula was the fall guy after last season and injury etc. the year before. It sounds as though old is new again as the current excuse is injury again.

Cam Newton has bad mechanics that lead to so many overthrows. Clearly, at this point it is clear that this will never change. The older he gets the less dangerous his running ability will be. The first question I would ask a new GM and/or coach is what do you think about Cam Newton? So much of what will occur will depend on the answer to that question. If the new regime determines that he is what he is and will be no better then lean years are ahead. I do not feel like researching his contract; however, the action of the team in relation to the status of the contract will speak volumes.

Are the Panthers ready to commit $30,000,000 per year to him? These are hard questions that the next regime will need to answer and my bitching notwithstanding, the answer(s) are not easy.

I think this level of frustration happens when relative success turns so quickly into pathetic failure. I will not be satisfied if the autopsy of this season has injury as the cause of death. That is simply not good enough for me this time around.

Eric Washington can run the defense.  I mean he sucks at it, but he could call plays.

It doesn't matter much to me though.  As long as he is fired on Black Monday, I don't care when it happens.
