As much as a joke as it seems.... if the Vikings lose to the Lions (AT DETROIT) next week, and if we win vs. ATL and Saints have nothing to play for week 17, we could still get in (assuming Vikings also lose to Chicago week 17).  Clearly with the state of Cam, it wouldn't be an ideal scenario, but it's not out of the question.

Let's just enjoy what's left of the season. If there's a miracle, celebrate it, but the window for this season is shut and nearly locked

The right to play one playoff game isn't worth the next few seasons. If Rivera won't shut it down, Tepper needs to step in and protect his investments.

While I admire the passion, your scenario is missing some pieces. 

We would need the following:

vikings lose out 7-8-1

redskins lose out 7-9

eagles loss to the Texans and beat the skins 8-8

panthers win out 8-8

at this point, it’s better for us to have the following happen:

panthers lose out: 6-10

falcons beat us but lose to bucs:  6-10

bucs beat falcons in week 17:  6-10

that puts us at 4th in the division. Nets us the best draft pick of the bunch and gives us games against the giants and lions next year as opposed to the eagles and Vikings.
