Would the Panthers be interested in Greedy Williams?

I’m in the minority but I think Greedy Williams is a top three player in this draft.

If we go BPA and he’s there, then he should be the pick.

Just a couple notes:

- He has the size and speed to be an elite player, a 6’3 corner who runs a 4.5

- Similar to Jackson, he can play press because it’s the LSU way

- He can play both sides which lets Bradberry play his more comfortable side (with Jackson at nickel).

- Williams was averaging a 40.1 passer rating when targeted, only 0.5 points higher than if the QB threw the ball in the dirt on every pass

- He’s consistent, in 2017 he averaged a 22.9 passer rating when targeted, tops in the SEC.

- He averages a 0.0 passer rating when targeted on 3rd and 4th down, huge for a team like the Panthers who couldn’t get off the field last year.

- He dominates good competition, Williams recorded 2 interceptions against D.K. Metcalf (who many consider to be a first round pick). Metcalf only had 3 receptions for 37 yards against Williams, Williams passer rating when targeted was 7.4 against Metcalf.

The Panthers could always elect to sign a defensive end like Trey Flowers, Brandon Graham, or Ziggy Ansah (Frank Clark probably gets tagged and DeMarcus Lawrence will be to expensive) and draft a defensive end in the third like Jaylon Ferguson in the third. Defensive end is obviously a huge need but I don’t know how you could pass up Williams unless Bosa is sitting your lap.

Can the guy keep up with fast WRs?

The dude has almost identical speed as Lattimore (though some down there at DBU will argue he is faster)

But taller and longer than Lattimore

Think 6'3-6'2 185 running a 4.35

That’s a defensive tackle. We can’t ignore end any longer if we’re going defensive line. Peppers is 38 and addition is at least 30. Fresh legs needed.

This guy is the BPA / Perfect Scheme player for Panthers defense.

Ability to stop the run and pass rush form inside or outside.

MSSTATE: Fletcher Cox > Chris Jones > Jeffrey Simmons

Minority on here.

But in the majority among scouts and writers.

Ive read and heard.  People like him less than Peterson, around what Jalen Ramsey, and better than Lattimore coming out.

Him falling out of the top 5 will be like Bosa falling out of the top 3

Simmons is solid but he's a UT just like KK

And while it is a new regime under Tepper.  Simmons has some baggage and youll see him drop.

IMO I like Jerry Tillery better than him

its almost comedic how drastically the offsason warps people's mindset

People spent months complaining  about Rivera's dated defensive approach and now squeal that a 3rd-and arguably a 2nd-cornerback is a "luxury." Like lol. The Panthers have consistently relied on a LB to be their nickel corner in a league where teams win by throwing the slant every single down.

The panthers can't beat NO and Atlanta because they can't get off the field on 3rd down against two teams who know so intimately that you just have to throw the quick out and voila, the drive goes on.

You build your team to win your division and the Panthers desperately need a more disruptive interior lineman and a cadre of great CBs to do it. Brees and Ryan haven't stood around waiting to get sacked in  four seasons lol.

You can just tell he’s elite by his ball skills (that came out wrong). I haven’t seen a player with the uncanny ability to know when to turn back and look for the ball on nearly every play like he does.

It’s impressive. Some of the highlight interceptions and pbu’s that Norman made for us (that fans loved), Williams has been doing consistently for the past two years.

I wish Milton wouldn’t have gotten hurt, it would have been fun to seem him against Williams in the upcoming bowl game.
