Everyone cried about Wilks until they saw Washington,...

i did like that Wilks is blitz happy— he recognizes that the best thing you can go is get to the quarterback.

That masked a lot of our problems in 2016.

i would be ok getting him back.

Richard Rodgers is still on the fuging team. I am so tired of Rivera refusing to fire his friends even when they suck at their job.

Darin Gannt stated on WFNZ that part of the reason Rivera was doing this was to protect Eric Washington. Even though it was obvious Washington wasn't qualified for the promotion he got, Rivera still believes in him and wants to keep him aboard with an eye toward eventually trying again.

With that in mind, it's reasonable to theorize a similar scenario with Richard Rodgers. Hiring a new DB coach and putting Rodgers back to the assistant slot could serve to provide him some cover if things go bad next year. Rivera seems determined to keep is old college teammate around no matter how many things he fails at.

Ron Rivera is known to be fiercely loyal to the people he likes, and that loyalty isn't affected by poor job performance (Mike Shula, anyone?). So despite Igo's suggestion that Tepper was trying to cure him of this particular fault, it doesn't sound like that's changing.

And that's a shame, given that no other factor may have done as much damage to the Panthers as loyalty to the wrong people.

A Head Coach caliber DCoordinator that won't leave after a successful season?  Sign me right TF up!

Seriously, best of all worlds.  Washington is a helluva DL coach - where he needs to be.  Rivera is a helluva DCoordinator - where he needs to be.  If he can do both, let him.  We gain all the way around.

I'd run a dang-near dual/no head coach system if I could... not everywhere, but here.  Two headed monster of Norv and Rivera.  Both HC quality coordinators.  Let them rock-paper-scissors for who gets the first draft pick and then round robin afterward.
