This the best DL class ever

Yep. I was actually talking about this DL class last draft in here. I didn’t want a DE last year* once the 3 Clemson players (Ferrell, Wilkins and Bryant) bailed on the draft. I’m big on drafting the strength of each draft so you get the best value. Unlike the Saints last year with Davenport. They used two firsts when Davenport might have been a 2nd rounder this year.

* I knew DE was a need but I sure as poo didn’t think our DL would implode last year after being the #2 sack team from 2015-2017 (only 2 sacks behind the Steelers). I figured DE would be something we would need this year.

This DL class is much deeper than last year, but I don’t think Davenport would be a 2nd rounder this year. He matches up pretty well on tape and athletically with Ferrell and Sweat, although Sweat is the best athlete out of the 3. If you put the 2 classes together it would be Chubb and Bosa as 1-2, however you have them, and then those 3 would be personal opinion as to how you rank them. Maybe Ferrell would be 3rd on most boards.

You forgot Josh Allen ... he would also be higher than Davenport..

He would be ranked around the Sweat, Ferrell, Burns Polite and Gary group.. For sure thoe

Exactly. Not elite “prospects”. These guys arent Aaron Donald, Clowney, Mack, Watt, Suh, McCoy type of Prospects. They can be good to great NFL players but as prospects they are not elites.

There was only one of those guys per class that you speak of. Williams is of that level. Bosa is of that level Elite prospects, Oliver is even being compared to Donald. All those other guys while not sure fire, are right behind that level of talent making them better than good. Add in all that and yes this class is far superior to most any we have seen. You act like all those guys were in the same class. Overall this class is probably better than any one of those classes with the guys you named.

Size and speed wise I would even argue that Sweat Matches up Favorably to Clowney....

Depth? Sure this class is better at pass rushers since 2014 and 2011.

I don't mean just depth... I mean the group of first rounders at the top of the board as many as 8 are closer 2 elite as a whole as we have seen. Sure there are knocks on most of the guys beyond Bosa and Williams,But those guys are right there...they are better prospects after the elite group than I can ever remember seeing. Sweat could end up being the Clowney you speak of. Took Clowney a while to get it together as well. Ed Oliver has freaky talent, did you see him doing linebacker drills? Most say Simmons was a top 5 pick before injury...I mean these guys are loaded.

    • It shows how short the actual span of a NFL career actually is.  We get caught up with the few guys that play until 40-years old, but that's an extraordinary tiny fraction of the League.  What you may or may not have intentionally done there is show how we quickly move off guys like that but are stubbornly hanging onto Bryce.  His new running mate, Kenny Pickett, drafted just one year earlier is already on his 4th or 5th team.  Kenny isn't horrible, but he's not good enough to be a franchise QB.  Some franchises get it, chalk it up as a miss and move on.  Others double down on trying to make things work until the relationship completely deteriorates. *cough* Dolphins and Cardinals *cough*
    • Winner of 7 vs 8 seed game gets 7th seed. Loser of that game plays against winner of 9 vs 10 seed game. Winner of that game (loser of 7 vs 8 against winner of 9 vs 10) gets 8th seed. So in reality if you make it to the 7 vs 8 game, it’s win and in for your team. Lose that game and you get another shot at getting in. If you have to play the 9 vs 10 game, lose once you are gone. Win the first game as a 9 vs 10 competitor and you still have to win again to get in.
    • DJ Chark, Hayden Hurst, and Bradley Bozeman all started for the Carolina Panthers during Bryce Young’s rookie season. All 3 have announced retirement after two years.  Scott Fitterer was that bad.   And his #1 receiver Thielen also just retired
