Yeah, this makes me VERY nervous. This is exactly how we ended up in cap hell during his first tenure.

He's not saying we've only spend 40 to 50% of what he plans to spend.

It's funny how folks forget how little hurney played in free agency, and the fans were begging him to.

Now that he's doing it better than he ever has, ya want him to put on the breaks. WTF.

Not a chance. I’m assuming you never saw him try LT a couple preseasons ago. He’s a RT and that’s it. Unlike Moton who was put at LT when Kalil was hurt, they never considered moving Williams there when Oher was hurt. Williams looked awful at LT. Moton looked solid.

Williams took the 1 year deal because he didn’t get a big long term deal and he knew he’d be able to have a solid year with us when healthy. He needs to prove the health to get his long term deal.

Very rarely will the coaches move the other starting tackle over, to cover an injury. That's why you didn't see then moving William's over to LT. They wanted him to remain at RT. Then when he went down, they had no choice. They put Moton at RT, and brought in another tackle to play left, because they know Moton could already hold down the right.

Now I'm not saying anything is in stone, but this is a great situation to have. Don't judge before the competition even begins.

Well the obvious contract would be Shaq, IMO. That is provided we plan to keep him. If not, there isn't much reason to kick the can on getting his money off the roster. Luke is an option but his total cap figure is actually due to start dropping after next season's peak cap figure(he has $7.2 mil in bonuses in 2019). We could opt to relieve ourselves from that but that would likely raise his cap figures the next two seasons, as it is actually is dropping quite a bit. That doesn't make a lot of sense unless we get in a real jam for money this offseason.

Guys like Smith, Poe, Addison, Thompson and Olsen all drop off the roster(save for some prorated bonus money). If we jettison all of those guys after 2019, we will have about $60-70 mil in cap space going into next offseason. If Short underperforms again, we can also cut him and gain close to $10 mil in additional cap space. So, we are actually looking to be in pretty good shape cap-wise in the future.

We’re going to keep that approach, and keep looking. We are trying to address needs. The goal going into the draft is to feel good enough where you go in and you draft the best player, which we will do, but the more you can help add players to increase competition and help depth, the better off you are.

It's a shame we have such poor Panther insiders that don't report any inside information.

It's very probable that we've had numerous players come in for a visit but nothing has been reported.

I highly doubt we've had many people come for a visit with the cap space we have.

Williams wasn’t starting at all for what I was talking about (Oher getting hurt), he was a backup and Remmers was RT. They moved Remmers to LT and put Williams at RT. That’s actually the opposite scenario of what you were saying a team would do because they moved Remmers, the guy who was our RT the previous almost 2 years.

I’m judging based on how bad he looked at LT that offseason before Oher got hurt. Williams never looked anywhere near as good at LT as Moton did. Not even close. I’d rather start Moton than Williams at either side. Williams RT and Moton LT is our best lineup barring a rookie beating out Williams.

Reimers was the vet, and knew the system the best. William's was no vet at all.
