3-4 Defense

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

I said it before the draft if we are moving to a 3-4 expect us to target athletic long OLB's with the ability to rush and drop into coverage. We got 2 studs in Burns/Miller who will fit the 3-4 perfectly. Besides the Grier pick in the 3rd Hurney pretty much nailed this draft. We could have used the Grier pick on a starting FS and our defense would have been fixed overnight.

At least we now have a backup QB for Cam that we can develop. Hopefully Cam bounces back and QB is no longer a question moving forward for another 5 years at least.lol

I think he actually fits better backing up Poe at NT than he does as a five tech.

Disagree on that. He was always meant to be insurance for Short and I think they see him as having the same profile.

I believe they'll put him at DE. I just question whether it will be as a starter or a backup.

He doesn't have any burst or bend to offer anything as a five tech. People seem to have a false impression of this guy's athleticism. He was 5.33 guy with mediocre three cone and shuttle times. He may have looked good against his subpar college competition, but for a small school guy those workouts should've been big red flags that he very well might not translate to the NFL. His workouts said JAG and they proved to be foretelling.

I'm not a huge workout guy, but I do think they matter a lot more to the small school guys who went up against lesser competition.

    • If he is BPA, then yes. I am a believer in Dan at this point and hope that he doubles on his strat from last draft.  T-Mac wasnt the biggest need, but at a first round position, over-drafting for need is bad.  We had XL coming back (we didnt know he'd catch rabid Racoon Disease in the offseason and forget how to be even an acceptable WR), Thielen coming back (yes...old AF thielen was a 1k reciever) and Coker coming off a surprising season...if you asked RIGHT AT THIS SAME POINT LAST OFFSEASON if we should draft Defense or T-Mac where we were last year, I guarantee 70-80% would have said "WHY THE fug ARE WE TAKING A RECIEVER!?!?!".  We're getting close, but you build a winning roster by Drafting studs in the first round and depth after, and Studs dont come from "Well we needed a Long Snapper", they come from "I dont care if we don't need a Receiver, That dude is THE DUDE"
    • I honestly don't care about NBA talent. Our last championship team was light on it. The team that went to the title game was light on it. I wanna win college games. I haven't watched a full NBA game in probably 15 years. I barely remember one and doners, whether their ours or elsewhere. It's one of the reasons why my hatred of duke has cooled. Their players don't hang around long enough for me to even know their names.
    • Should hopefully pick up a half-game on the Sixers and Heat tonight. Also possibly the Hawks and Magic. 🐝🐝🐝
