Whatcha got? Hubby's looking for a job since landscaping's slowed for the season. We're in Savannah, about 1 hour from Charleston.

An hour? Good Lord, how fast do you drive? I'm a bit of a lead foot and can never make it in much less than 2 hours.

that's my backup plan. If I don't land something soon, I'd rather put myself in debt for a masters degree than waste my time on meaningless part time jobs for the foreseeable future.

I have a job still but it's on shakey ground....had a phone interview with the VP of sales yesterday with a company and he wants to me along the process and now it seems the company my old man works for may want me to come aboard as well if I find myself a free agent. Both would be better than where I am now....I see companies looking at consolidating resources and people and thats the business I'm in. Of course they have to spend money to save money but only the smart ones do that...

I got alot of friends that are out of work now. The worst part about being unemployed at the end of the year, is that no one usually hires until after the fourth quarter and the Holidays. I know last year, I could barely secure an interview from Oct. through Dec. But after mid Jan., the interviews and job fairs came up pretty fast.

I know my new job could be in jeopardy, the company I am working for is not doing well.

Every time I am glancing at threads in The Lounge I skim by this one and I think it says "I got laid a year ago..." and I think, dude, that really sucks.

Then on second glance I see that it actually reads "laid off," and suddenly I don't feel so bad for you. So keep your chin up, at least your gettin some.

I'm out 7 months now....will be off worker's comp in 3 months and then it's "find a job" time. Don't think there's any way we could pay our basic living bills on unemployment. Hopefully the companies in my field start hiring again.
