Kicker?

It's going to be hard for a kicker to compete with the ghost of Kasay in this fan base.  In the minds of many he had only 1 bad kick(what a fuging bad kick tho).  Gano is what most kickers are and why most fan bases are nervous as hell when they attempt FGs and XPs.  I agree that he is paid too much, I also wish we had kept Butker for the contract alone.  Its obvious Hurney/Rivera feel more comfortable with a vet, this is where we are right now and the past can't be changed.

it can’t be understated how valuable it is to have a kicker who can attempt 60+ yard field goals in games and actually have a chance as well as consistently kicking the ball out of the end zone on kickoffs.

The contract is a mess but we could do a lot worse. Let’s hope his leg is ok.

Was in his bio.

Agreed, Frank Beamer could win a lot of games..... until they played a ranked team.

They did win a lot of games under Frank, which is why they have the longest bowl game streak in the nation. Are they an elite team? No. Are they a solid program with good college prospects? Yes.

Oh, and Ohio State won the national championship in 2014 with just one loss. To Virginia Tech. At home in Ohio.

To that point Slye hit a 55 yarder with plenty of room to spare.

In a preseason game with no pressure.

What's not to like about your backup kicker performing well, and on the road no less?

I'm going to be extremely blunt about this, but only losing franchise fanbases Stan for an overpaid kicker. Some of you need to maybe reflect and reevaluate priorities. This isn't Jerry Richardson's Panthers anymore. Ya'll can ride off into the sunset right along with Gano if you like him so much. Deuces.

For a camp body kicker who's a total long shot to make the team that's as much pressure as he's probably ever had to kick under. That's him creating film for another team if not ours.

I say keep the new guy. So far he looks good enough to me. Trade Gano to the Bears.

Gano slumped a bit after the NYG game last year, and isn't worth that money.

I don't really care for Gano on a personal level, either.

    • All I heard was uber rides, weight trainers, and t shirts??? Maybe some meals too........ What a monster and he should be tossed in a rusty wood chipper!!!1!11!!!!!
    • This is from 5 months ago. It was one or the other. Trade for one or draft one. We apparently called the Jets about Wilson. We also talked to the Seahawks about Metcalf. Drafting our own guy was the best course of action given the required investment. Regardless now is the time for Bryce Young to produce. We are fourth amongst all teams in cap spending on the OL. Back to back first round picks at WR and multiple young TE draft picks now. Very solid and respectable backfield. New pieces across the defense. The time is now.
    • That was just the worst time to have their worst game of the season. One key deal was the broncos guess the Panthers would NOT change any plays or flow to the game. Another key point overlook that bronco defense was truly one of the best in the NFL history. It was the best defense the Panthers faced that year, by far. They were not ready for it, but broncos were ready for the Panthers. Mix in that bad luck, poor refs showcase, and this is the golden boys last game........ Panthers needed to win by 20 and the broncos defense was not going to allow that.  Panthers were the favorites and I believe they also thought that it was going to easier than them destroying NFC playoff teams as they marched to the SB. I've heard darin Gantt say the play calls were to give remmers help, but for some reason the team never did it. During the year they never had that problem, so maybe never practiced giving help via TE/RB, or WR chip. Cam was superman that year, no need for any adjustments...... Until you meet a legendary defense with studs at all levels, Think about it, Peyton was throwing wingless dunks for the whole season, the defense had to carry his corpse to the SB. That's how good they were, not many defense are able to get to the playoffs and win a SB without decent QB play. If you recall the beginning of that defense took Tim Teblows and his non-throwing arse to the playoffs couple years before. That's insane the level of defense needed to overcome.
