After tonight's game, who makes the team and who gets cut?

As far as backup RB I feel Scarlett and Bonnafon both outshined Payne... far to often he looked lost last season when he came in.

CAP looked good this preseason... just like he has for most of his career... solid but not spectacular.

I'm not going to be surprised if CAP is on the roster again.  Rivera trusts him.

I think Bonnafon has shown enough to warrant serious consideration for RB3 because I think he can do more as a receiver, but CAP is not bad.

Ultimately, our 3rd RB is going to get most of their reps on ST, because CMC is still going to get the vast majority of the snaps if healthy

  • I see CAP getting cut--too much young talent behind him.  I like all of the young RBs...
  • We have some young LBs that are good enough for a roster spot---Williams, Smith, Carter.  Nice.
  • White could beat out Godwin at  WR after tonight.
  • Haynes, Miller, and Burns have a ton of potential. With Addison and Irvin---what?
  • We won't know who the kicker is until Gano comes off IR---(guess).
  • I thought Blanding played well--C. Luke too. Gauldin needs to stay in the box.
  • I liked what I saw in Hemmingway (TE).
  • Daley sucked at LT.  Better inside.  Not a T, and the lack of versatility could hurt him.  79 (Amichia) was better.

Assuming Riverboat decides Slye is a keeper -- what becomes of Gano?

Almost certainly will have to be on initial 53 (otherwise we have to outright cut).  That means we will have 2 kickers on the initial 53, so we'll probably have to cut someone we don't want to (and hope we can resign them).

Gano will certainly go on IR after that, the question becomes whether we want to use one of our 2 IR-to-return spots.  I don't think we have to specify at the initial IR time though.

I think that is the most likely scenario... if Slye struggles too much during the first 8 weeks, we have the option of bringing Gano back.  Otherwise, Gano will spend the season on IR and the team will decide what to do after the season

He probably goes to IR---Slye gets an 8-game window to win the job.

If Gano is truly injured that's a fair way to handle it.

That said, a ton of Slye fanboys here (or are they Gano haters?) would just as soon see Gano cut and gone regardless of the cost and risk that Slye may fail....they just want to roll the dice on Slye with no backup plan....incredibly foolish.

CAP will not be cut.

A lot of people are seriously underestimating that possibility.

Bonnafon has certainly flashed, but Rivera trusts CAP, and CAP plays a lot on ST, and does pretty well at it.

How our backup RB's play ST is important to this coaching staff b/c if CMC is healthy, that's where almost all their snaps are coming.

The 3rd RB is almost certainly not going to see any snaps except for ST

I don't know, for sure CMC is the man looking for a 2000 yd season run/pass but as a backup Scarlett is young and a badass while Bonnafon is also in his own right... Cap has been servicable for a few years, but too many times he has come in looking lost and caused problems..... I have thrown too much poo at my TV over him!

IR is our best scenario for Gano. We give Slye a complete chance to win the position.  Also increase his value if we decide to keep Gano. At minimum, we should be able to get a draft pick for him.
