From the initial call between Norv and Grier, it sounded like Scott sold Norv on him and then Hurney went and got the guy his coaches wanted. I put it mostly in Scott.

Yes. I think one of the reasons Marty has been drafting better is because he is listening to scouts and coaches. Moore was the same deal.

I can see us carrying 4 RBs with Bonnafon being a ST versatility kinda guy ala Joe Webb from a few years back.

Good point...  hadn't considered how ST could factor into the RB situation.  Either way, I'm really hoping they bank on potential in our young guys instead of familiarity with CAP.

Allen and Heineke have almost no value. They would be lucky to get picked up by another team.

We used a third round comp pick on Grier so he’s a lock. Cut Kyle and Taylor and if you feel it’s necessary, sign a vet with actual NFL experience. If Cam goes down the season is done anyways so give the experience to the guy you invested in.

Honestly would have made more sense to wait on a QB until next year anyway. Allen will get any of the backup QB minutes this year, Grier is already 24, and we could have used 100 on someone who would actually contribute this year. At this point though, we've got to stick it out with Grier though, no sense in giving up on him already.

This is why I was so against the pick...  There were so many players at 100 that could've helped us this year and beyond.  But completely agreed...  once we made the pick, we're invested and gotta hope for the best.

And again, as I've said elsewhere and fiz stated here, the brightside is Grier has shown REAL NFL arm talent...  it's just clear he lacks the mental aspect.  We can only hope he develops it over the next year and becomes an asset.

I always take what happens in Preseason Four with a grain of salt.

Remember when we all thought Jordan Todman was a beast?

I remember Willie Young dominating a fourth preseason game for the Panthers. I thought for sure he made the team but he got cut the next day.

I as well, so these really were cumulative observations.

And in Todman's defense, he actually made some plays for Pittsburgh that year, and we cut him in favor of Brandon Wegher lol.  Todman was a preseason beast in '15.

Holyfield is not ready for the NFL and should be on the practice squad.  He got blown up bad on a blocking assignment by a guy who will probably be on the practice squad.  He basically got sandwiched between the QB and the lineman

That was one play in the preseason, though.

He's also done a lot of things really well.

    • I think that depends more on how high our pick is. If we have the 1st, 2nd or even 3rd pick i think we are drafting a QB rather than shopping FA market for a QB1. Curious if we’d be reluctant to start a rookie QB week 1 though.
    • Hurney 2.0 and Fitts were so bad I don't know if it was intentional or they were that abysmally clueless. Fittershits panicked repeatedly being on the back end of positional runs while Hurney couldn't evaluate anyone outside of the 1st.  I can't figure out why Plummer still has a jersey. There's no reason. Dalton brings nothing to the table. If another QB gets cut that has given a glimmer of anything better than what we have, we should look, and that goes for every position.  I cant get over how much different this team could have been with a competent GM and having accepted the Rams offer for Burns. This franchise could have gone in a totally different direction.
    • I thought tanking wasn't actually a thing and we were firmly against it though?
