If another adult wants to spend his or her money on a pay per view sports website with washed up beat writers and no name journalists passing off their opinion as “inside info” then go for it. This is America. If you want to waste your money on stuff, you are free to do so. That is what makes this country great.

True.

That's the beauty of the Internet: you can find lots---if not all---of the same "hard info" for free. Blogs, Blogs and social media have changed the world.

The Super Information Highway is just that, and I find detours around all the toll roads.

The college websites (like inside Carolina) charge ridiculous amounts for “premium” content which is basically all information on recruiting. You can get similar information on twitter or other websites. I can at least, in theory, understand people wanting “inside info” from a college recruiting standpoint but I still think it’s stupid and a silly waste of money to pay for content. The Athletic is a racket but like I said if you want to waste your money on stuff like this then by all means do it because this is America.

Via the Athletic...

Quoting Marty Hurney, Rodrigue said the issue came down to a fear that if they devoted a roster spot to Gano, they might lose someone else they really wanted to keep.

.

3  of  the  players  they  really  wanted  to  keep  were  cut  the  following  day

What is the benefit of paying for websites like the Athletic?

Win or lose, the Panthers stats will be the same.  But the difference is in the quality of the writing and the personalities. I really enjoyed Rodrique at the Observer, so I use my 3 free articles a month on the app to read her stuff when something good comes up.  She is really good at her job.  The Athletic should, ideally, have more writers of her quality covering everything.  It's kind of a sports page for America.

For some, that's worth it.  For others, it's not.  I see the point, and I dip my toes in it for free.  If I had the disposable income, sure, but things are tight right now and I just don't.

I’m generally intrigued by it now and am curious to see what is so great about the coverage. Where will I be able to find premium, advanced statistics and analysis to help me win money in my fantasy football leagues?

Maybe.  Downloading the mobile app, you get three free articles per month.  Your tease so to speak.  I have negative interest in fantasy football (just not my thing) so I have no idea.
