Like hell it would.  The Bears and Chicago Fire play in Soldier Field, originally built in 1924.  Building a $2 billion stadium would create a fierce backlash among Panther fans, utterly enraging taxpayers and PSL owners losing their investments.

The article does mention that MLS is not really all that high on the idea of playing in retrofitted football stadiums.

I don’t care. I’d love to keep the stadium on site. Tepper has mentioned MULTIPLE times his desire to have a roof. That’s probably happening, no matter where.

I think the city of Charlotte should pay for the whole thing including retractable roof on BofA.

Objectively speaking, there probably are better places for a stadium than BOA's current location, especially if you want to make money off of parking.

I know a load of people hate the idea but it's true.

I get that. I live football played in the elements as intended, but a roof gives the venue a lot more options hosting events outside if football.

I get that but why would his soccer team need it's own stadium? Tepper wants a dome football stadium and to create more revenue streams from the stadium, how does adding a separate soccer facilities fit a bigger picture? If they played in the same stadium then he should have less overhead and make more profit. Maybe an angle into this new dome stadium he has mentioned? If you won't build a separate soccer stadium then help me build a combo stadium? My feelings about public funding aside, why would a separate stadium be a positive is a question I can't find an answer for.

My understanding is that MLS prefers to have their own venues.

Now with that said, the article has been updated to reflect that what Tepper is actually asking for is renovations to BOA.

Yeah like one Super Bowl and maybe 1-2 Final Fours, which an infinitesimal amount of local residents would attend.  Billy Joel is coming to BOA next year.  Hell Kenny Chesney played in podunk Green Bay in Lambeau Field, originally built in the 50s.  A new stadium = gluttonous insanity.
