Crew,

Optimism hat on

The formula in my title should speak volumes of what this team is capable of.  Very few teams possess a combo like that.  Not to mention we also Kuechly and a healing Cam.

At the end of the day, let's face it: the offensive line isn't absolutely awful on the levels of the Bell/Chandler days and we've got a ton of exciting young guys beyond CMC.  Who by the way happens to be on track to break Chris Johnson's yards record.  We have a coaching staff in win now mode along with a defense that looks the best it has since 2013, maybe even since the Pats Super Bowl one.

The injuries suck this week but I don't think people should back down in confidence.  I sense a generally positive atmosphere but also hesitation with Cam's uncertainty and the general injury bug vibe.  Fans appear to be in a "show me what you got", low expectations attitude.  I say, sure, that makes for a less stressful Sunday but wait a second and let me help induce heartburn tomorrow...

This team is capable of a playoff run with as little as a game manager at QB.  Hell, look at history...Keenum, Foles, Sanchez, Grossman, etc.  Plenty of random non-franchise face guys led teams into the playoffs.  So, if this team continues to build momentum until Cam's return and we come running full steam into the playoffs, I really see the Saints as the primary team to overcome.  Maybe the Seahawks & Cowboys as well but the Boys seem to be pretenders IMO.  Expect a few speed bumps with Kyle if Cam is out a few more but we have a winnable schedule ahead.

Overall in the NFC, who's really impressing?  Rams (Who we should've beat), Bears, Packers, Eagles don't and who else is there really?

I still think we can do it this year; we prepped and marinated ourselves to be contenders as a juicy prime.  The only downside in a run is Rivera staying and all but I guess we could have worse?  Meh, I still don't like him but as Foxy would say, "It is what it is".

Optimism hat off.

Yay team.  Rawr.

Funny folks are bashing  Marty in here. When you look at the depth to be able to handle all these early injuries, who exactly was responsible for that?  Something we struggled with under Gettleman and his fruit basket turnover every year.

Depth? Dude where we have injuries is absolutely killing us. Our line is horrible because of injuries and lack of depth. We are lucky to get Reid back because there is no one behind him. But at least Turner and Short are getting paid well by Hurney to sit on their butts.

I am sure Tuner and Short hurt themselves on purpose and Marty knew the whole time they were gonna get injured from his magical crystal ball but he signed them anyway...I mean seriously, WTF?

Lost me as soon as you started saying the OL wasn’t so bad. They’re fug awful and we still have a fug head at coach and GM

I said no such thing.  Saying it's not as awful as the Bell/Chandler era is entirely different...do you remember how bad that was?  I mean does anyone here?  Jeebus.

Paradis and GVR aren't performing well and speed rushers are getting around Williams but they put together series where they hold their own.  The pocket isn't collapsing every snap like Cam got used to early career.

    • Yeah, Dave doesn't seem like a "muh scheme" type of coach where he wants plays drawn up for his QB to robotically go through a preprogrammed process. He seems like more the type of coach that just wants his scheme to produce opportunities for a QB to be a playmaker. It's a scheme you'd love to play in as a QB and it's the type of scheme that should work really well for the "point guard mentality" QB they tried to sell us on Bryce being and the type of QB he was at Alabama but at the NFL level all of those physical shortcomings that seemed plainly evident to many of us on the college field are showing up in a big way. Even with his bad decisions I honestly think a lot of it is that he's struggling to see the field. I don't mean that figuratively in that he's misreading the defense or missing open receivers, I mean that literally in that I think he's struggling to see the field over the lines of 6'4"+ huge men in front of him. Reich used to talk about creating throwing lanes for Bryce to see through and holy poo... if you need throwing lanes now you've massively shrunk your opportunities. Now you're trying to play QB through a picket fence. If you watched him play at Bama, you saw him routinely drop back 10-15 yards behind the LOS to gain depth so that he could see over the scrum. You just can't do that routinely in the NFL. NFL pass rushers are just too good. Your OTs can't create that deep of a pocket.
    • This could be a breakout game for Kyle Pitts. I'm hoping for a miracle just so we have something to talk about besides the team sucking poo.
    • I don't remember a 2018 tear down. I remember the failed 2019 failed build up of the 3-4 switch which is still stuck in the 'working on the foundation' stage. I thought 2020 was closer to that but really it was just an idiot behind the wheel doing what idiots do. Poor drafting and free agents is the main problem IMO. This team hits so little on talent it's actually amazing they don't stumble over more just by accident.   I still don't think there is anything to tear down. Just a ton of easy to dump people that should happen. It's a bottom of the roster churn that reaches 2/3s the way up this roster.
