It’s one thing to have an opinion about an upcoming game based on film study. I have access to that stuff, as do others, so I can formulate a stronger conclusion on that front. All I know right now is someone said their source saw Cam in Chicago, the team says he’s visiting then doc for more info, and Kyle Allen starts this week. Until I see Rapaport put a source, names or unnamed, to his take of Cam being a long ways off, I’m filing that under speculation.

I know the situation is weird as sh-t.

Most of us originally thought he'd be back for the 49ers. Then it was the Titans. Then it was the Packers. Now I don't even have any idea when it's going to be.

And yeah, I've allowed the idea that it won't be anytime this season  to get its foot in the door when I previously wouldn't even entertain the possibility of that notion.

Cam is DONE this year. I said at the beginning of year that he should start on IR and see what we have with Allen.

This was our best case scenario as it allowed Cam to fully heal, while showcasing what Allen was capable of. Our current situation is about as close to this as you can ask for. Allen is proving to be a capable starter, one other NFL teams would throw $20m per year at to see if develops into a franchise QB.

Our next few seasons are about to be defined by this off-season.

1. Do you trust Cam has healed, allowing Allen to walk (maybe he is tendered and we pick up a 2nd? I don't know this process)

2. Do you let Cam walk if you believe you can develop Allen?

lol OP suggested cam is faking the injury and people are still taking him seriously

Faking the injury? Wouldn't take that seriously.

Differences over the best way to treat it, though? That's a genuine possibility.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it's like the Trent Williams situation at this point, but that's the comparison that Kyle Bailey made. It's not entirely without merit.

Care to elaborate for somebody who doesn't follow basketball?

I saw this compared to a situation surrounding another basketball name also but I forget who. Gerald Henderson maybe, but I could be wrong.

Kawhi was the Spurs best player. They ended up in a dispute on his injury. Their team’s medical staff said he was healed and had no reason not to be playing. He said otherwise and sought other medical opinions. Their relationship went south. He was traded. He won a championship last year and is now widely recognized as the best player in the NBA.

Cams situation is becoming eerily similar imo.

Gotcha. Thanks.

Does the Gerald Henderson reference ring a bell?
