Kyle Allen can’t become a franchise QB? Think again..

Below are five QBs stats during their first seasons. Yes I realize that QBs can flame out in a split second and yes I realize Kyle’s sample size is still small and I’m comparing full seasons to Kyle’s several games, but, here we go.

Aaron Rodgers- 4038 yds, 28 TDs, 13 ints, 93 QBr 63.6% completion rate

Peyton Manning- 3739 yds, 26 TDs, 28 ints, 71 QBr 56.7% completion rate

Drew Brees- 3284 yds, 17 yds, 16 ints, 76.9 QBr, 60.8% completion rate

Tom Brady- 2843 yds, 18 tds, 12 ints, 86.5% QBr, 63.9% completion rate

Kyle Allen- 1291 yds, 9 TDs, 4 ints, 87.8 QBr, 60.9% completion rate

Now obviously there are way more factors at play, intangibles of course being a big one. Kyle Allen has shown he can make all the NFL throws, has pretty good pocket awareness and along with very solid stats, he passes the eye test. Oh and he is only 23 years old! TWENTY THREE!

Of course I realize he could easily be the next Baker Mayfield and flame out at the blink of an eye, but I truly think once he has a full off season practicing and training as the starter, sky is the limit.

that is my concern as well (although less so my concern about him being a "franchise qb" and moreso my worry about him taking us to the playoffs :P )

but there are reasons to be optimistic... he had a nice throw to Samuel and the throw to Moore was not bad last game (along with, yes, a bunch of misses).  A lot of QBs rely on receivers coming down with 50/50 balls, but I want to see a bit more consistency there... Hitting on 1-2 more deep balls a game will clear out the short and intermediate routes / run lanes very cleanly, and that is what we will need

This x1000

until he actually hits a receiver in stride over 40 yards through the air this conversation is pointless

Those throws seem to always be on point but the WRs seem to always drop them or not fight for them. I will say his deep balls have more touch and are at least closer to the WR than Cam’s were, Cam’s would sail way past the WR

Watching him on Sunday

anyway, a lot of those dudes were on downright atrocious teams. hard to compare.  Allen isn't being asked to do as much as they were and isn't needing to.

Seeing how well he was controlling the offense and moving the ball downfield during that 2nd QTR drive on Sunday was a thing of beauty and showed flashes of what he can become

    • yeah, I can get a little of that.  But that's not what he is posting in his argument just now though.   He said people wouldn't even concede to the literal ability to do it when pressed on the literal ability.  I have never seen that.  He maintains it exists somewhere.  I mean, using anomaly games to make arguments about players just isn't the way.   There wasn't a defender within 10 yards of our guys on 2 of those 3 throws Sunday.  No one within 5 on the 3rd.   That's not Bryce Young answering questions about his play downfield..  That's Bryce Young taking advantage of coverage busts by a bad D.  Which hey, that's part of the game too.  Recognition and seeing the field.   It can't totally be dismissed.   That's still good play.  You want your QBs to make those plays.  But it's not getting into the long standing critique of BY IMO.
    • Deserved, I wouldn’t use that word. Asked for? For sure. Am I upset over it? No.  People forget that AT was throwing his helmet in frustration last season over his QB’s ineptitude. The same QB was pretty inept to start this year, no guarantee AT would have helped him in those games any more than he did last year.  Just sayin.  And Dan doing him a solid probably did not go unnoticed by players around the league. I think it increases his rep with potential FAs. It sure can’t hurt it.
    • You think that was the fault of the guy that was lighting it up or maybe the bums around him? Funnily enough, those bums are still being bums in his absence. Who would have thought!
