There is only 1 scenario for Cam Jerrell Newton in 2020

To be fair, it might be accurate to say there's really one most realistic scenario at this point.

It just isn't this one.

The idea that Newton will be released and allowed to pursue the best contract he can find seems far more likely.

Well I didn't want to be the one to come out and say it but I think given what we have heard that it is a forgone conclusion.

literally all those players are replaceable. havent seen anything from McCoy to warrant a huge extension. i prefer to keep Shaq and Bradberry and love what Irvin and Cockrell have given us. everyone else on the list can be plug and play replacements

Sure. There might be some guys on that list I'd love to have back, but I'm not willing to give up a franchise qb without knowing whether he's got anything left in the tank or not, even if I think odds are he might be running low, to keep those guys. That's where my thinking evolved a little on this scenario once I sat down and looked it over. I was worried bringing Cam back meant having to give up one or both of those top two guys, but the cap space available means we don't have to, we could keep them and see what Cam has left and what we'd really be giving up is some number of those other guys, most of whom I like, but not enough to jettison QB1 just to keep them.

Now looking down the line, what does worry me is if Cam comes back and does well, and we have to resign him at market rates, that is gonna make keeping CMC AND some of our other young talent super tricky 2 years down I think, but that would be a good problem to have.

None of this is going to happen if what I hear is true.  So you can stop worrying.

Meh

Trade him to the Bengals for Green straight up.

Bengals dont seem to be on the same page of extending him long term and rumor that they will slap the franchise tag on him despite his camp not wanting that.

They tag him, and trade him for Cam.

They get Cam to start his last year on his deal and the rookie they draft can redshirt.

You know nothing Jon Snow.

Sorry, couldn’t resist.

I honestly have no clue what’s gonna happen with our team. Marty won’t return my phone calls, Ron answers all my texts with “Busy, get back 2 u l8r” and the only thing I can get out of Tepper is some form letter from his attorney about a restraining order. It feels like they don’t love me anymore.

As to the suggestion, if Newton were traded he'd have to play out his current contract or ask for a renegotiation.

If he were released, he'd be able to shop for the best contract he can get.

Which do you think would be the nicer thing to do for him?

100% Trade. Nice really doesnt have any business in the NFL.

I know a guy who knows a guy who once fooled around with the daughter of the janitor, sorry maintenance engineer, in BOA.  That's how you get the inside scoop.

Yay, free up 19 million and have no QB beyond a jag and a redshirt longshot. That solves all of our problems. It's so simple to find a good QB, just throw too much cash at a limited or old QB or spend a couple of first and hold your breath. All solved!

You will turn around and flame Hurney for signing Delhomme to a extension after Tommy John...

Panthers go 11-5 and lose to the Saints in the Super Dome and Cam does just enough to demand $35 million a year long term... Hurney does it and 3 years everybody is making the I told you so posts...

You people are funny. One second Cam is not even worth a first rounder, you then turn around and try to bring him back on a one year... 100% guarantee his salary this year and 25% guaranteed next year... Anything less time to part ways. Not giving him $35 million for one good year after horrible injury history. Remember, Brock Osweiler made 60 million in this league without starting 16 games in a year, it don't take much to get big deals.

Now you tell me! Do you know how much I paid a homeless Chinese guy to try and hack Marty’s phone? He spent weeks on it and got nowhere, but it cost me a small fortune in “overhead”.  But your saying all I had to do was bang some engineer’s daughter. What a waste.

im kidding obviously. We all know there’s no such thing as homeless Chinese people. Those people work their tails off.

Well to put it in the words of a former colleague it's best to go ugly early than to waste your money on buying drinks for the hot chic and end up leaving the bar broke and empty handed.  Sage advice for the youngsters.
