I've seen enough...Leave Martin as starter.

Totally Agree- Hopefully this will be the end of the Charles Godfrey Experiment...

And for everyone saying it's just one game, I know it has been for Sherrod Martin but it has been a season and a half for Charles "I'll Get There Half-a-Second Too Late" and "I'll Hit Em But Won't Wrap-Up" Godfrey.

I was hoping the Panthers were going to try to upgrade at safety during the draft, and I thought they were trying with drafting Martin in the 2nd round. Then I find out they projected him to cornerback...

I was beginning to think Sherrod Martin would be another 2nd Round Bust by the Hurney Administration (especially after being outperformed by Captain Munnerlyn), but I think it is just a case where the Panthers tried to make Martin a CB and he struggled, but he looks pretty good in his natural position.

I'm hopeful Sherrod Martin can be a huge upgrade for the secondary. Let Godfrey be a backup option at safety/cornerback.

To all of those fans saying that Fox was wrong to switch Godfrey to safety and Martin to corner...most of the draft gurus were saying that those were the positions they expected them to play in the NFL before either one of them even became Panthers, so it's not like Fox just pulled this stuff out of his butt.

I think our FO out thinks themselves sometimes, I wonder how it would be if they would have kept Godfrey and Martin in their normal positions to start with.

Martin has made more plays than Godfrey in only one start.

I'm not saying Godfrey can't play corner, but man he really does suck at FS. Hopefully Fox keeps Martin in there.

If Martin loses the job to Godfrey I wont be surprised

You do realize that NFL coaches do not listen to draft "gurus".

Name me one NFL head coach who cares what Mel Kiper thinks, and I'll show you a loser.

I mean...the guy played well. But he played well in ONE game. I think he deserves another chance at starting, but lets not get ahead of ourselves here...could be a case of beginners luck and he loses the game for us with blown coverage or a missed tackle next game. He's not Ed Reed quite yet....

I was surprised Warner couldn't take advantage of Martin in his first start. When a team like the Cardinals sees a young guy out there, they most certainly will game plan for that. The fact that Martin held his own is even more telling when you consider that fact.

    • There are several posters that only post negative at all times.   8 wins is a big jump from 5 and we still have 2 games.  Jaguars have a much more talented roster than us and have underachieved for years.
    • All of this noise is just setting us up to lose Week 18 and proclaim life's not fair. If there's one thing I know in my 30+ years of watching the Hornets and Panthers, is that the bad guy always wins in the end. A team can be falling apart internally but we will still lose to them. A team's fanbase can be extra shitty and cocky and they will just win anyway. It always happens
    • Well even if we took diverging paths getting there...our overall assessment of Shough is the same (bolded) lol so I guess that's what matters.  What you call "playing at a level that looks like a veteran starter" is the same thing I'm referencing when I talk about his poise.  Although I still wonder how truly "bad" of a team the Saints are.  Their defense is middle-of-the-road, and their offense does have some good pieces (Olave, Juwan Johnson) outside of running back which is the position most everyone agrees is relatively plug-and-play.  I'm not going to pretend to know anything about the majority of NFL team's o-lines lol but I'm assuming Saints are not great there, although Shough's pressure % seems to have been quite low (and steadily improving) over the last four weeks (20 -> 16.7 -> 15.0 -> 13.0) so maybe they've been playing better as of late, or perhaps Shough himself deserves credit for that.   Some of the language I'm hearing about Shough, including talking about how he's way above league average in several categories, makes it sound like Shough is having a rookie season on par with like a CJ Stroud who established himself as basically a Top 5-10 QB his rookie season.  Maybe that's on me though, I don't mean to attribute anything to you that I'm sure you don't agree with.
