Lol so straight from the top you don’t give a poo about trolls or people posting others addresses, poo like that? Great to know

Due to how cheap Kyle is likely to be, I wouldn't be surprised if he started for us.

But if we get new management and draft / acquire a new qb, then all bets are off unless Kyle steps it up.

If we're being truthful with ourselves there probably isn't a reality for the Panthers where we aren't drafting another QB in 2020.

Ron or no Ron, our only other viable option is Grier who looked extremely uncomfortable in the pocket in preseason.

If Rivera and Hurney (likely a packaged deal) are fired, I'm 100% expecting the new staff to want their own guy, especially if it's an offensive minded coach like Eric Bieniemy or Kevin Stefanski. Hell, I would expect an attempted trade-up into the top 10 for one.

It hardly works because it doesn't block quoted posts, so you essentially see every post they make if they get replies from other members. Unless there is an additional feature I missed.

Barring a complete meltdown or a big injury, I'm pretty comfortable saying that he'll be on the team next year.

Whether or not he'll be a starter? Depends on what the options are.

If he finishes the season continuing to improve, I definitely think he has a chance.

I cannot foresee any future where Kyle Allen is not on the team next year.

Worst case, he's a high-end backup making a minimum salary.  From the team's perspective, how could it possibly be any better?

I also think very strongly he will be in the mix to start next year (provided Cam isn't here, which I still want to believe there is a chance for), but I also think the team brings in someone to compete with him.

I would be surprised if it's just Allen and Grier for the starting job.

To me, Grier is in the weirdest spot.  The Panthers used a decent draft pick on him, but certainly not a high enough pick that predestines him to be considered for starting.  And he would have to really show a lot to pass Allen or another veteran for either the starting or backup role.

I honestly think there's a better chance of Grier being traded than Allen, although I still think Grier will be the number 3 QB again next year unless something unexpected happens.

i’ll take my chances with cam rehabbing a very tough injury (as low as those odds may be) over allen taking those steps forward, based off of what i’ve seen.

and for what it's worth my position on cam, as ive stated several times now even before this kyle situation, has been he's not going to recover from his injuries. there's a medical component to them he's just not going to overcome.

i still think cam retires. or some team pays him too much money to say no to and he underperforms or gets hurt immediately.

That's not how Tepper thinks.

Big Tepp is going to pay whatever it takes to install the best QB he can.  It Cam gets his foot/shoulder/noggin all back to 100% his odds are 99% to collect that $21M payday in 2020.  During that time Kyle will remain on the roster, as either the starter or the clearly capable backup.

In my mind, Cam is already gone and that's a shame. Guy was mismanaged and miscoached from the beginning. The league and crappy refs let a lot of abuse happen to him that resulted in a lot of long term damage from the looks of it. Basically he was in a horrible situation that will result in us losing one of the most dynamic talents the league has ever seen way too early.

Focusing now on life post panther Cam. I think Allen is a good backup. If we stick with him long term, I think we're settling for mediocrity and I'm tired of settling for that. That has been the culture for most of this teams existence...content with being ok.

If we clean house, which I hope we do, and we move on from Cam, I hope we don't settle for an ok coach or an ok QB.

It's time to raise the standards. I'm not doubting Allen because of Cam. I'm doubting Allen because of what I've seen from him. I'm just not blown away and that's what I want for a QB.

Honestly, I think the first domino to fall in this process is the front office. I still believe Hurney and Rivera will not be making the decision on the QB in the offseason. I can't trust them to make a decision on that front. I can't shake that feeling of mistrust.

Going off of that assumption above, I can see a scenario where we keep Cam and have him and Allen fight it out in training camp. Cam's contract (as unlikely as I think he would willingly play without an extension) is too valuable in the most important position on the team for us to just let him go without compensation. I admit, I have an attachment to Cam and I want him to be a worldbeater, but I just don't know. It's not like we can find another starting caliber QB for $20 million in the open market, and we won't be drafting high enough to get a top QB.

Now, as far as Kyle is concerned, yes he is doing well considering the circumstances. I just don't want him to be our only option going into next year. There needs to be some kind of competition there. From where? No clue. He's doing well, but I want to see us open the playbook some more. He did good to get us in position to win, and that's a testament to his toughness and how the team has responded to him. I want to see continued improvement.

We seem to be on the verge of a complete teardown and rebuild. We shall see.

I wouldn't be surprised if next year we bring in a vet backup... although its possible a top qb may fall to mid 1st rnd, and a new coach / gm may want their guy...
