Will Cam ever be mentioned in the same breath as...:

Strange Question!...
If Cam never plays again he may struggle to get into the HoF.
If Cam plays another 5 succesful seasons he will be a HoFer.
But who will talk about Mahomes, Watson, Jackson or Prescott if they get hurt this season and never play again? Maybe nobody!
Only Russell Wilson could stop playing now and will be remembered forever. Maybe Cam too!

I'd actually rate Newton above McNabb.

WCO QBs are just about always overrated, especially the one in Andy Reid's system.

What kind of odds are you putting on Cam going to the Chicago Bears?

Apparently there's some sort of rhetoric out there that the Bears and Cam are simpatico....

....your thoughts?

Yes.

If we're talking about them at the same points in their careers, yes and no.

Ability wise? Yeah. But for his first two seasons Newton had a bad habit of starting off games extremely hot but fading as the game went on.

I always attributed that to the adjustment to the pro game, but you could make an argument that our coaching staff's poor halftime adjustments played an equal role.

(kinda doubt anybody'd argue Jackson is benefiting from better coaching than Newton had)

As to Jackson, good as he may be, he still isn't fully what he's gonna be yet. Hard to judge what you don't yet know.

It is interesting that the Ravens are more willing to play to Lamar’s strengths than the Panthers ever were.  Seems to be the trend in the NFL now...the college style offenses.  A young Cam would have flourished in todays game.  Especially with the added protection for quarterbacks.  It is also interesting that they both have been dominant without a great supporting cast.  Mediocre receivers, decent running game and good defense behind them.

    • Pretty sure that a QB contract payday is all the competition any QB in this league needs, I don't think a competent backup is going to make them play any harder when the current situation wouldn't warrant the contract extension yet anyways. Your opening point in this post is also the problem, "Bryce has shown signs of improving", but that's still all he's shown, and he's only showing that because of just how bad he was to start his career. If he played like last season from the beginning and never improved one bit, then I actually think more fans would be ready to move on from him, which is what's weird.  It's like going from one of the biggest draft busts of all time into the 25th best QB in the league over 3 years means he deserves a long term $40+ million a year contract extension. Improvement shouldn't be the goal when the result of said improvement is still bottom of the league levels.
    • Yeah, but we've seen him do it. Just not often. I think that's the reason for the taller WRs. Would likely be a problem finding someone like Jimmy Horn in the mess.
    • And the Rams, Seattle, Patriots, Green Bay, Jaguars and the Bills who all made the playoffs and in case you forgot, Seattle and the Patriots played in the SB. By any measure, that's pretty brutal.
