Cheaper isn't something to tout when there was a better than not chance that Cam Newton wouldn't make it through this season.

We should have had a better backup last season, and this one, we didn't, and now we have this mess.

We haven't had a good backup for Cam since what, 2014-2015? It's been the status quo that Cam was going to carry us to where we needed to be.

And yet we believed we could skimp on the offensive line that was supposed to keep him healthy.

Bad bad choices...

Cheaper perhaps. Better than a guy like Josh McCown? No.

And I've heard that tired excuse before.

The Josh McCown that had 1 td 4 int 54.5 comp pct. in 2018. Yes, Scot. He would have saved our season.

Ahh, yes, we would have reached the super bowl without those Pro Bowl players because DG's presence somehow propels Rivera to victory.

Didn't answer my question.

What will you have left to talk about if Marty is gone?

I guess me knowing that we would fail this season was enough for me not to look forward to last offseason.

Keeping the status quo, you know what to expect next season, just like many of us knew what to expect this season....another year of mediocre football.

Literally, the only thing to look forward to with this team is a completely new book.  And I, for one, and looking forward to it greatly.  Now, it may not work out, there are tons of potholes along the road, but we knew that Ron and Marty wouldn't work out either way....on to the next decade of Panthers football.

I will probably look at it much more positively AFTER the changes have been made. In the meantime, I just look at the prospect of losing seasons as far as the eye can see and that isn't comforting.

Not having a good backup for Cam before his injury history is one thing, as soon as he started getting near 30, was starting to show signs of breaking down, and we were pushing in the chips on a heavy veteran team, we absolutely HAD to address the offensive line and the backup QB position.

We didn't.

Dumb front office.  Dumb coaching staff.

Is that made any better if those losing seasons happen under the current leadership?

If those things are inevitable, then at this point we're just putting it off and putting ourselves through more misery than is necessary.

It's time to rip that Band-Aid.

The moment Marty Hurney walked back into the building, I started looking at losing seasons as far as the eye can see.

At least with a change there is hope, with this staff there is known.

Well most of our OL draft choices have been bad or we just haven't made a consistent effort to build it.

2019

Little - Shaky and injury prone. Bad pick unless he becomes a legit starter considering we TRADED UP for him.

Daley - Great value pick, even if just a backup.

2018

Nada -  And dumb that it was.

2017

Taylor Moton - Eh.....looking more like a JAG every day. Arguably the best of the bunch, sadly.

2016

Nada - Dumb.

2015

Daryl Williams - One of the worst OL in the NFL.

2014

Trai Turner - Great pick, unfortunately his play has declined once he got his money.

2013

Kugbila - LOL

2012

Silatolu - LOL

2011

Zachary Williams - 6th rounder, meh.

2010

Nada

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
