Our lovely 5-9 squad currently sits at #7-12 in the draft with SOS putting us at #11.

HOWEVER! Consider the following 5-9 team schedules (bolded are their winnable games IMO):

Chargers: Raiders, Chiefs

Jaguars: Falcons, Colts

Broncos: Lions, Raiders

Jets: Steelers, Bills

Falcons: Jaguars, Bucs

Cardinals: Seahawks, Rams *I think they could pull an upset in one of these

So, in going 5-11, I think it's very possible we end up with pick 7-8. Worst case, probably 9-10.  I find it wildly unlikely if only 2 or less of these teams lose out.

So, I now ask, who do you want?!

We're a rebuilding team who will need years to get back in contention and don't have a QB

It would be insane to draft for need and chase a DT

You draft the BPA regardless of position, because who knows what we'll need in a few years when we're competitive again

Exactly. Teams do not win with a DT or OL. Teams win and get better by having a QB. Panthers fans are stupid. I understand we need to upgrade the OL and DL, but no GM is stupid enough to pass a starting caliber QB over any other positions. That’s why teams in the past will draft a David Carr over Julius Pepper. A Cincy will take Burrow over Chase young.

CBS actually has us at # 10. I don’t know who’s correct but I hope CBS is. I’m really hoping for a top 8 pick.

Yes Derrick Brown is better than star. We also need to target a second round safety. Xavier McKinney, Ashtyn Davis, Richard LeCounte III, Brandon Jones or Winfield jr if he comes out. Marty has been to LSU several times. Im assuming he's looking hard at Delpit in round 1 if Brown and the two Olineman Wirfs and Thomas are gone.

Would love a safety in the second as long as the interior of the oline is addressed at some point. If there is a C with a 1st rd grade there it would be hard not to keep tre and Reid and address the Oline.

If Cam is healthy, it would be insane to move on, draft someone to groom in the years to come and dont waste cmc, dj, and what's left of kuechly and shaq's careers. Stay competitive!

    • You do, the guy who doesn’t appear to grasp projection.  as the entire board knows, I do in fact, take positions.  The position here I have taken is that Bryce Young is a weak bottom tier starting QB, without NFL starting QB tools, that we must move on from.
    • The OP for one. Asserting that people blamed Bryce for the loss in the title of the thread. That was not the prevailing sentiment at the time this thread was created. Very much a minority thing, I don’t remember but maybe one person if that, putting it on Bryce as the main reason. Troll thread. Did a good job too. Look at the pages.  Someone counting up the draft picks as 10 on offense and 10 on defense or whatever the number was, today or yesterday - of which the offensive ones were heavily 1s and 2s and the defensive picks were heavily day 3 and declaring that proof that the offense wasn’t favored like people claim. The obvious neglect we watched for two years. I spent time refuting that bullshit because someone needed to.  People saying we are bad horrible people and hate poor lil Bryce for no reason, as if it is a personal thing. Constantly.   Along the same lines is people saying we non Bryce fans would rather lose than have him play well and the team wins. That we are mad when the team wins   Point illustrated.
