Kyle Allen Only Struggles Because of the OL

Why do you think Reid sat Patrick M. Almost an entire season. He was obviously more talented, and they knew he would be the future starting QB but yet they say him. Grier is a 3rd round pick who we view as a talented backup who could potentially start one day if he develops.  A red shirt year is not going to hurt him, and he can get reps as the main backup next year with a coaching staff who will will actually be here in the future like he will.

Not sure that is a great example. Alex Smith had led them to the playoffs in consecutive years. Plus he also had a pretty damn impressive season statistically in 2017. Mahomes may have had the talent but I think a pretty good chunk of the coaches probably would have rolled with Smith in the scenario the Chiefs were in.

Our situation is a lot different. We are not looking at recent success or a recently successful(not to mention veteran) starter.

You can’t use stats or historical data with these people but thank you for trying.

The Snakes and Scots of the forum will never allow data or history to get in the way of their personal opinion, UNLESS it fits their narrative as you’ve seen.

Eh, it's human nature to sort of protect a viewpoint you have when it's under attack. It usually just ends up with the person being much more entrenched in their view than they likely ever meant to be(which I think is basically where Snake is with Allen now).

WarPanthers point is not invalid about not throwing Grier to the wolves, I just disagreed with the specific example in regards to our scenario. Most of those "sit and watch" QB scenarios are ones where there is an existing veteran starter who has a track record of success(Rodgers/Favre, Rivers/Brees, etc). That ain't us. Allen is struggling a lot, so the reasons to keep Grier on the field are pretty limited.

As for Snake and Scott, I understand what you are trying to get at but I am not as quick to judge based on some internet communications. I don't have any specific issue with them personally, I just disagree with them from time to time. I have no idea what their personal motivations are for their opinions, nor do I really care for purposes of this forum.

I will continue to use stats and facts to support the majority of my arguments, rightly or wrongly.

What matters to me is an objective viewpoint. Too many people on here only support sources, stats or grades when they say what they want them to.

Take Greg Cosell, for example. I've seen the exact same people praise Cosell as a valuable source and then rip him as a know nothing amateur depending on what he said. That's ridiculous.

There are sources I trust, but that doesn't mean I always like what they have to say. Inside sources last year said Rivera and Hurney were coming back. I hated hearing that, but they were right.

Bottom line for me, whether it be stats, sources, grades or whatever, my trust for them depends on how often they're right.

Stats just aren't consistent enough for me to trust them.

That's fine, I just happen to disagree. Opinions shift, statistics are what they are.

His drop in accuracy over the season is directly related to the o line. If we don’t learn the lesson we will repeat it and this time it will be with a QB you like and actually support.

We had a generational MVP QB and yet here we are. I wouldn't hold my breath.

Allen sucks and it’s on the OL. Somehow I bet you won’t make the same excuse for Grier or anyone else.
